TV-Series
Description
Mimori Tougou, originally named Washio Sumi in elementary school, was scouted by the Taisha organization for her high hero aptitude. Adopted into the influential Washio family, she fought Vertex threats alongside Nogi Sonoko and Minowa Gin. During these battles, she activated her Mankai ability twice: first losing the use of her legs, then sacrificing memories of that period. Afterward, she returned to her original family as Mimori Tougou, with her injuries falsely attributed to a traffic accident. The Taisha relocated her family next to Yuuki Yuuna due to Yuuna's exceptional hero potential.
Physically, she possesses long black hair typically tied in a low ponytail with a blue ribbon and dark green eyes. Standing 158 cm tall, she initially uses a wheelchair due to her leg disability but later regains mobility. Her hero form features a blue-and-white bodysuit with four ribbons aiding movement, evolving in later seasons to include footwear. Her Mankai transformation manifests as a large flying gunship equipped with laser cannons.
Personality-wise, she is mature, intelligent, and deeply patriotic, rejecting non-Japanese food and English loanwords. She runs the Hero Club's website, excels at baking sweets, and studies computer programming. Despite her pessimism, she displays moments of humor. She prefers being addressed by her family name "Tougou" rather than "Mimori".
Her combat abilities focus on ranged weaponry provided by fairy companions: Aobozu supplies a sniper rifle, Gyobudanuki twin shotguns, Shiranui a pistol, and Kawabotaru autonomous laser portals. Each Mankai activation carries severe physical costs, initially causing leg paralysis and later memory loss.
Her character arc spans multiple stages. In early battles, initial panic over her disability gives way to transformation to protect Yuuna from a Vertex. She later confronts Fuu over withheld truths about the Hero System. Reuniting with Sonoko reveals the full consequences of Mankai and restores her lost memories. This revelation triggers a crisis where she attempts to destroy the Shinju to end the heroes' suffering, viewing it as atonement for past failures. This action separates her from the group and leads to her dimensional imprisonment.
During her absence, memory alterations make the Hero Club forget her existence, though subconscious traces remain—manifesting in behaviors like Itsuki portioning cake for six. Yuuna eventually recalls her during a club performance, leading the group to rescue her from interdimensional confinement. Post-reunion, she reintegrates into the Hero Club's activities.
Key relationships define her journey. She shares a profound bond with Yuuna marked by unreciprocated romantic feelings and mutual protectiveness. With Sonoko, she rebuilds their friendship after memory restoration. Initial anger towards Fuu over secrecy evolves into respect for her leadership.
Her name carries significance: "Tougou" references historical Japanese military figures, aligning with her patriotism, while "Mimori" phonetically resembles "memory," reflecting her amnesia arc. Flower motifs associate her with morning glory (affection, mortality) and chrysanthemum (rejuvenation, vitality).
