Description
August Samuel Wahlen, born in 767 UC (458 IC / 3567 CE), rose to high admiral within Reinhard von Lohengramm's Imperial Fleet. By 792 UC (483 IC / 3592 CE), he served as lieutenant commander and first officer on the cruiser *Hässliche Entlein*. There, he aided Reinhard von Müsel (later von Lohengramm) in recovering a stolen directional Seffle particle generator prototype from defecting Count Herxheimer, marking their first significant collaboration. Wahlen also supported Reinhard and Kircheis during the Retriever arc within the *Spiral Labyrinth*.
Following Reinhard's admiralty formation in 796 UC (487 IC / 3596 CE), Wahlen became a commanding officer. His combat debut occurred at the Battle of Amritsar, where his successful ambush shattered the Free Planets Alliance's 3rd Fleet. He further demonstrated strategic competence alongside Siegfried Kircheis and Cornelius Lutz during the Lippstadt Rebellion's Battle of Kyffhäuser and participated in the pivotal Battle of Vermilion against the Alliance.
Wahlen commanded the adaptable *Wahlen Fleet*, its versatility leading Kaiser Reinhard to assign him the spearhead assault on Terra. During this campaign, a Terraist assassin stabbed him in the left arm with a poisoned knife, inducing a coma. Surgeons amputated the arm to save his life. After the mission's success, he facilitated Julian Mintz's request to travel to Odin.
In the Second Battle of Rantemario, an explosion from a direct hit by Oskar von Reuenthal’s fleet destroyed his prosthetic arm, inflicting further injury. Despite these setbacks, he remained an active commander. Near Reinhard's death in 801 UC (3 NIC / 492 IC / 3601 CE), Wahlen was recommended for promotion to fleet admiral.
Privately, Wahlen maintained a family life, with at least one son cared for by his parents during his service. He possessed exceptional inner strength, facing adversity without fear and meeting challenges with deliberate caution. He treated subordinates and strangers with consistent respect, earning high regard from allies and even a degree of sympathy from adversaries.
