Vice Admiral Pastolle commanded the Free Planets Alliance's 4th Fleet from 792 UC, operating from his flagship, the *Leonidas*. An experienced soldier and veteran of over one hundred battles, he maintained a friendship with Vice Admiral Paetta of the 2nd Fleet. Pastolle met his end at the Battle of Astarte in January 796 UC. Facing Imperial forces led by Reinhard von Lohengramm, the Alliance fleet was caught unprepared by Reinhard's swift blitzkrieg assault. Pastolle was killed in action during the conflict's opening engagement, as depicted in the episode "In the Eternal Night."
