Description
Noel, alias Noel Aizome, teaches English and physical education at Metropolitan Souya High School, replacing a deceased predecessor. This position masks her true role as an Executor for the Holy Church.
Hailing from a small French town, she worked in her family's café as a child. Her life shattered during the French Incident on Christmas Eve 2001, when Roa and Dead Apostle allies massacred her hometown. Witnessing her parents and community slaughtered, she emerged as the sole survivor. This trauma ignited a profound hatred for both Roa and Ciel, whom she blamed equally, driving her into the Church's service.
Lacking innate Executor talent, Noel endured three years of monastery training. She still considered herself subpar after two additional apprentice years, gaining confidence only upon becoming Ciel's partner. Ciel took her in five years prior to the main events following Noel's dispute with a bishop, forging their partnership.
Physically, Noel possesses brunette hair tied in a side ponytail with a pink elastic, brown eyes, and a mature appearance. Her teacher disguise features a blue blazer, pencil skirt, white dress shirt, black tights, and high heels. As an Executor, she dons a modified nun's habit exposing her legs, knee-high boots, and occasionally adds a traditional coif and veil.
Noel projects a cheerful, flirtatious persona, especially towards younger individuals like students. She leverages her appeal as an older woman to cultivate popularity among male students, often incurring dislike from female students. Beneath this friendly exterior lies deep-seated cowardice and a sadistic streak; she takes pleasure in inflicting pain on those she deems weaker. A yearning to live as a "normal" woman surfaces in small acts like styling her hair or decorating her weapon—actions Ciel disapproves of during missions.
Her past includes a formative betrayal at age 14 by an admired foreign exchange student who used her as a decoy during the massacre. This event, combined with Shiki Tohno's resemblance to that boy and his closeness to Ciel, fuels her later resentment toward both.
After Vlov Arkhangel bites her in Ciel's route, Noel fears becoming a Dead Apostle despite lacking full transformation potential. This fear spirals into insanity, driving her to torture vampires under the guise of seeking redemption. She employs Sacraments to maximize victims' pain, smiling during their suffering. Her descent culminates when Dr. Arach offers power through Idea Replica serum injections. Following six doses, she becomes a Rank VI Dead Apostle and rampages to kill Shiki and torture Ciel. During their confrontation, she forces a final injection, mutating her body into thorns before disintegrating when pierced by Ciel's Seventh Holy Scripture.
Earlier, Noel approaches Shiki under the pretense of a sexual advance, warning him against nighttime investigations and hinting at his former teacher's fate. Her role varies: she quits teaching after Vlov's defeat in Arcueid's route, while Ciel's route details her psychological unraveling. A spin-off scenario depicts her arriving in Souya one month after Ciel, posing as a teacher after realizing she couldn't impersonate a student. While surveilling the Tohno mansion, Akiha Tohno confronts her, but Noel refuses to enter, sensing imminent danger.
Her character arc explores trauma, jealousy toward Ciel's strength and immortality, and the conflict between her desire for normalcy and violent impulses. It concludes with her physical dissolution after mutating into a thorn-based form during the final battle.
