Description
Enki Gokuu, former supervisor of building five at Nanba Prison, was once a highly respected guard before his own arrest and imprisonment. He belonged to the secluded Gokuu Clan, a martial arts family in the mountains of China where he underwent rigorous training from childhood. His imposing presence featured exceptional height, a muscular build, dark skin, and sharp, dark green eyes accentuated by red makeup. Long red and white hair, typically tied in a low ponytail, facial scars—two crescent-shaped near his left eye and one on his right cheek—and turquoise-colored nails completed his striking appearance. He wore a modified guard uniform with gold trimming, shoulder ornaments, and a tattered green cloth covering an injury inflicted by Elf.

Stoic and reserved, Enki rarely spoke or showed emotion, leading others to perceive him as cruel. Yet, he held a strong belief in justice and rehabilitation, dedicating himself to preventing inmate mistreatment. He advocated that everyone deserved a chance, a principle echoed by building five's residents. This commitment predated Nanba; while working at a Chinese prison, he exposed an organ trafficking ring involving inmates. To protect them, he deliberately injured prisoners to secure their transfer to supervised hospital care, ultimately reporting the corruption and facilitating the prison's shutdown.

Enki's past included rescuing Noriko Sanzou from a temple prison. He discouraged her suicide, urging her not to be enslaved by her abilities, and brought her to his mountain home. There, he instructed her and his younger brother, Samon Gokuu, to train together. The three developed a close bond before Noriko later disappeared following an accident that induced memory loss.

His career at Nanba Prison ended when Elf—an assassin with superhuman abilities from their past—manipulated inmates into attacking him. During the confrontation, Elf used a fragment of himself embedded in Enki's right arm to stage a murder, framing Enki for the crime. Although Enki surrendered to Hajime Sugoroku, he was imprisoned in the Gogyousan Underground facility. His building was subsequently labeled "traitorous building five," and he lost widespread trust.

Learning about Jyugo and Musashi's supernatural abilities from Inori Hakkai, Enki broke out of prison with assistance from Ruka Gojou and Inori. His primary goal became killing Jyugo and Musashi, whom he deemed dangerous and inhuman. During his escape, he confronted and defeated Samon, imprisoning him in Gogyousan. Enki later fought Kenshirou Yozakura and Hajime, reiterating his intent to eliminate Jyugo. Throughout these events, Elf's influence intensified within him, causing violent outbursts, including a near-fatal attack on Samon. Noriko and Houdzuki Sanzou intervened using Doukidoukon to suppress Elf's control, but Enki remained resolved to kill Jyugo. Ultimately, to prevent further manipulation by Elf, Enki took his own life, maintaining his willpower and sense of self until the end.
