Description
Noriko Sanzou, also known as Sanzō, stands as a significant figure. She is the older sister of Houdzuki Sanzou and shares a deep history with both Enki Gokuu and Samon Gokuu. Her appearance features below-average height, fair skin, shoulder-length blonde hair parted in the center, and closed purple eyes accentuated by blue eye makeup and prominent lashes. She wears blue nail polish and bears a resemblance to her brother. Her attire includes a cream robe with yellow trimming, a white and gold waist sash, a yellow rakusu, and a blue butterfly-patterned shawl, completed by a cream veil, an elaborate gold headpiece, white tights, and yellow-and-white ankle boots with small heels.

Born with extraordinarily potent Ki, her family and community mistook her for the reincarnation of the ancient priest Genjou. This power involuntarily drained Ki from those nearby, causing fear. To contain her, her family confined her to a temple and sealed her Ki, though its strength continued growing. Later moved to a mountain temple, she was manipulated into believing her isolation was a sacred duty to protect her family. Sensing their relief upon leaving her, she concluded her existence caused suffering and attempted suicide. Enki Gokuu interrupted this act, unaffected by her Ki. He challenged her view of herself as a monster, encouraging her to embrace her strength. Inspired, she left the temple with him, adopting the name Noriko instead of Genjou.

She resided with Enki in the mountains, meeting Samon Gokuu. Though Samon was initially weak to her Ki, they trained together under Enki, forming a close bond where Samon regarded her as an older sister. During this period, she honed bushcraft skills and developed ideals of justice under Enki's mentorship. She also encountered Mao Nimaijita during his mountain visit.

Her life shifted when kidnapped by a scarred man’s organization. She awoke in a clinical setting where a child named Elf claimed she was a monster like him, a notion she rejected. She later met Houdzuki, revealed as her younger brother. Despite initial joy, distrust arose towards a doctor named Isou, whom she sensed as dangerous. When Isou’s group threatened Houdzuki, Noriko refused to join them, condemning their immoral goals while inadvertently absorbing their Ki. Shielding Houdzuki during the confrontation, she tumbled down stairs, fell unconscious, suffered memory loss, and her powers became unstable. Her Ki was managed through charms, and she remained under medical supervision, aspiring to become a doctor while maintaining hope through letters to Enki.

Years later, her father and family confronted her. Sensing his hatred and fear, she denied seeking revenge, but he imprisoned her in a cave. Sealed there for a decade, she survived by absorbing the Ki of surrounding wildlife, which perished. Upon breaking free, she used her Ki defensively against guards attempting to kill her. Reuniting with Houdzuki, she vowed to protect him.

Within the prison system, she visited Samon at Nanba Prison, discussing Houdzuki and Enki. Learning of Enki’s alleged betrayal and arrest, she performed Doukidoukon with Houdzuki, transferring her consciousness into his body while her physical form was hospitalized under Mao’s watch. In Houdzuki’s form, she interacted with Inori Hakkai.

Her personality evolved from a withdrawn, self-sacrificing child into a compassionate yet profoundly scarred individual. Initially believing in universal goodness, repeated betrayals—including abandonment by those she aided and her father’s imprisonment—culminated in hatred for the world and a desire to no longer witness it. Her empathy, derived from reading others’ hearts, remained central, but her devotion narrowed exclusively to Enki, whom she considered her sole reason for living. This manifested as a willingness to kill or die to ensure his safety.

Her abilities center on Ki manipulation: she absorbs the life force of living beings near her, an involuntary effect during childhood that later became controllable. The technique Doukidoukon enables consciousness transfer between bodies.
