Description
Tsubomi Kido is the biological daughter of the Kido family head and his mistress, resulting in cautious treatment within her childhood home. Following her mother's death, she moved to the Kido mansion where staff mistreated her, blaming her for the lady of the house's illness. This period fostered a timid personality and communication struggles, with frequent wishes to disappear. Her older half-sister, Rin Kido, reached out, forming a close bond that helped Tsubomi gradually open up, though Rin's elegance and confidence remained intimidating. Rin insisted Tsubomi drop formal Japanese honorifics (keigo) between them.

When their father faced financial ruin, he murdered his wife and staff before attempting to kill Rin. Tsubomi fatally stabbed him to protect her sister. Trapped in the burning mansion by their father, both sisters died on August 15th and were swallowed by the Kagerou Daze, a timeless world halting deaths on that date. Inside, Tsubomi encountered Azami, who granted her the "Concealing Eyes" ability via a snake entity. Azami taught her to use this power to suppress memories, causing Tsubomi to forget Rin's death and her role in killing their father. Rin sacrificed herself to guide Tsubomi out, leaving herself trapped while Tsubomi returned to the real world.

Revived with Concealing Eyes, Tsubomi entered an orphanage. She met Kousuke Seto and Shuuya Kano but remained distant initially. The trio was later fostered by the Tateyama family, where Ayano Tateyama encouraged them to embrace their eye abilities as heroic traits, leading to the formation of the Mekakushi Dan with Ayano as first leader. After Ayano's suicide, Kano appointed Tsubomi as the new leader, suggesting last names as codenames and calling her "Danchō" to build her confidence. This role transformed her from reserved to a protective, sometimes stern leader prioritizing group safety.

Tsubomi has dark green hair, black eyes, and an androgynous appearance often mistaken for male. She stands 168 cm tall, weighs 44 kg, and has blood type B. Her typical attire includes a red track jacket under a dark hoodie with headphone-inspired designs, green pants with one leg rolled up, and mint green Converse shoes. She frequently wears earbuds, a childhood habit aiding focus and calm.

Her Concealing Eyes ability diverts attention from people or objects within a two-meter radius, rendering them nearly invisible and inaudible. The effect breaks upon physical contact with outsiders or in highly crowded areas. Familiarity with the concealed individuals weakens the ability. With practice, she gained precise control, extending the radius to cover buildings or masking other eye abilities like Momo Kisaragi's "Drawing Eyes." She can also use it to suppress her own memories, as taught by Azami.

As Mekakushi Dan leader, Tsubomi exhibits a mature, responsible demeanor, handling group logistics like cooking and missions. She is fiercely protective of members, willing to risk her life—a trait influenced by Rin. Despite her cold, intimidating gaze, she harbors a fondness for cute things and fears roller coasters, horror stories, and snake skins. She denies these softer traits to maintain her leader image. Childhood insecurities resurface when her ability causes unintended isolation or when others call her a "ghost." She uses the masculine pronoun "ore" and avoids honorifics, rooted in Rin's influence and her aversion to formality.

Across story routes, her fate varies. In the Music, Manga, and Novel Routes, she dies or remains trapped in the Kagerou Daze. In the Anime Route (including *Kagerou Daze -in a day's-*), she remains alive and active in the Mekakushi Dan. Her leadership here reflects Rin's nurturing yet teasing approach, emphasizing group cohesion during missions.

Her name means "flower bud" (Tsubomi) and "gate/door" (Kido). Her favorite musicians are Oasis, Radiohead, and Shugo Tokumaru. She owns a hoodie gifted by Ayaka Tateyama to help manage her ability.
