Yuudachi, the fourth Shiratsuyu-class destroyer, introduces herself with "Hi, I'm Yuudachi, a Shiratsuyu-class destroyer. Nice to meet you!" Her name means "sudden evening shower." She displays a genki and somewhat childish personality, frequently ending sentences with the verbal tic "poi," reflecting historical ambiguity about her specific actions during the Guadalcanal Campaign. She questions, "I worked sort of hardish during the Third Battle of the Solomons didn’t I?" Characteristic phrases are "Let's like, do our best today! Poooi!" and "Am I, like, neglected?"
Visually, she initially has long blonde hair with a ribbon, green eyes, and wears a standard black serafuku. After her second remodel (Kai Ni), her appearance becomes more feral and ornate. This form features messy hair with a reddish tint, red eyes, a hairclip, and a visible white sail on her back. The sail references the incident during her sinking when it was mistaken for a surrender flag. This remodel embodies her historical title "Nightmare of Solomon," earned for disrupting enemy lines at Guadalcanal.
Assigned to the Third Torpedo Squadron with Fubuki and Mutsuki, she participates in engagements like Operation FS. After her Kai Ni upgrade, she transfers to the First Carrier Task Force. Her battle cry is "Destroyer Yuudachi, now sortieing!" while her Kai Ni night battle phrase is "I'll show you the nightmare of Solomon."
Her characterization draws heavily from history. During the Third Battle of the Solomon Islands, she aggressively engaged, helping sink two destroyers and damage a cruiser before being disabled. Following crew evacuation, USS Portland sank her remnants after mistaking her raised sail (a makeshift repair) for false surrender. This is reflected in her damaged line: "I'll fight it out, with a hammock as a sail if I have to!"
Her Kai Ni remodel, achievable at Level 55, significantly boosts her stats—especially firepower (to 73) and torpedo capability (to 93)—surpassing many heavy cruisers. Unique equipment synergies exist, such as bonuses when pairing her stock 12.7cm Twin Gun Mount Model B Kai 2 with surface radars.
