Description
Diego Gomez began as a human bodyguard and associate to Glenn Arias, forging their friendship within a Mexican drug cartel. He witnessed Arias's wedding become a target of a U.S. government drone strike, sustaining catastrophic injuries while most guests perished, including Arias's wife. Arias preserved Diego's life through radical biochemical alterations using the T-Virus and later the A-Virus, transforming him into a bio-organic weapon. These modifications caused extreme physical disfigurement, demanding a permanent metal mask and external arm support structures. The viral enhancements vastly amplified his muscle mass and strength, yet rendered him mute and emotionally detached, requiring periodic stabilization via specialized medical equipment.

The viral amalgam integrated Las Plagas parasite genetics, granting him unique physiological traits. He displayed immunity to other A-Virus-infected entities and retained sufficient cognitive function to wield advanced weaponry like a customized minigun while executing complex orders. Despite his mutations, he maintained a recognizably human form and exhibited lingering paternal concern for his daughter María Gómez, particularly during missions. His augmented physique enabled direct combat with elite operatives like Chris Redfield, overpowering opponents by smashing through concrete and enduring massive damage.

During Arias's vengeance campaign, Diego participated in critical operations, including the assault on Rebecca Chambers's laboratory to release the A-Virus and her subsequent capture. He later confronted Chris Redfield in New York, where an incendiary grenade exploited his vulnerability to fire due to the flammable A-Virus within him. After Arias suffered mortal injuries from a fall, Diego activated pre-established protocols by deactivating his power limiter. This triggered a fusion sequence: Plaga-derived tendrils erupted from his back, enveloping Arias and merging their bodies into a composite Tyrant-like entity. Within this form, Diego's consciousness subsumed, his physical presence reduced to a vestigial head on the creature's shoulder. BSAA forces ultimately destroyed the entity, eradicating Diego's remnants with a precision railgun shot.

Diego's death fueled his daughter María's pursuit of vengeance, driving her alliance with Arias's associate Dylan Blake and involvement in subsequent bioterrorist events. His legacy endured through her actions, evidenced by her retrieval of his mask and explicit motivation to avenge him.
