Description
Mei Merrihada is a short boy possessing white hair and vivid blue eyes. His typical attire consists of a blue and black shirt, a predominantly blue jacket, white baggy pants adorned with a blue pattern, and a distinctive furry white hat; during Mistral-Bit's trial, he dons a red crown. He carries a large card visibly over his clothing, with blue garments underneath.

Characterized by profound naivety and an earnest tendency to trust others, Mei initially dislikes battling and avoids attacking spirits in combat. Despite this aversion, he feels a deep duty to protect his village and the God-King card, The SheepTwelveGodKing Glorious-Sheep, inherited from his deceased father. This responsibility drives his journey.

Mei flees his village to safeguard Glorious-Sheep, encountering Sandrat. Deceived by candy and false kindness, Mei willingly surrenders the card, only for Sandrat to abscond with it. When Tatsumi, leader of the battlers of darkness, demands a battle for Glorious-Sheep, Mei participates reluctantly. He refuses to attack, relying solely on Glorious-Sheep's defenses, resulting in defeat and loss of the card.

Returning home with Shunta Mogami and allies, Mei faces criticism from Yoku Albatrosa regarding his battling skills, though the village chief defends him. Despite encouragement to join Shunta's journey, Mei declines, doubting his strength. Witnessing Shunta and Yoku defeat dark battlers and receiving reassurance from Eto Etoshinmori about his potential prompts Mei to reconsider his role.

His development emerges during a city supply stop. Challenged by Shunta, Mei demonstrates improved skills yet still loses. Later, Yoku forces a battle to test Mei's resolve. Initially passive, Mei fiercely declares his determination to win and actively reduces Yoku's life points—a significant shift from his aversion to offense. The battle is interrupted by dark battlers, leading Shunta to recover Glorious-Sheep for Mei.

Mei's growth continues when targeted by Zucchi, who exploits perceived weakness. Encouraged by Shunta and Yoku, Mei overcomes manipulation and wins. He subsequently contributes to victories against spiritual guardians during trials within Soul Spots.

A pivotal moment occurs when Kiki Beresia confronts him, revealing his heritage as a hero's descendant. She attempts to recruit him for the dark faction, invoking his father's legacy. Mei rejects her, prioritizing preventing the evil God-King's revival. Though defeated and losing Glorious-Sheep again, Shunta later retrieves it.

Mei's battle record reflects his evolution: early losses to Tatsumi, Shunta, and Kiki give way to victories against Zucchi, Soul Spot guardians, Sandrat, and General Inui. His deck centers on white-colored cards, featuring defensive spirits like Blitz Raccoon and The FortCity Wallsheeps, alongside Glorious-Sheep. His strategy emphasizes protection and recovery, aligning with his initial reluctance toward direct aggression.

Linguistically, his name references sheep, thematically connecting him to his signature God-King. Physically, he resembles characters from other Battle Spirits series.
