Description
Mihaya Sisk, also known as Lord Mihaya or Viscount Sisk, is a disgraced noble from Clarines. The third son of the former Viscount of Sisk, his family estate stood on Mount Koto. His father's criminal partnerships with the Sea Talon pirate group in Tanbarun led to the family's loss of title, wealth, and status upon discovery. Mihaya inherited the headship of the diminished House Sisk, leaving him desperate to regain noble standing and financial stability by any means necessary, including opportunistic schemes.

He possesses scruffy brown hair past shoulder length, typically tied in a low ponytail, and black eyes. Mihaya typically wears a long red scarf and a tan-brown tunic casually, adopting formal attire for official meetings.

Mihaya first emerges as an antagonist after overhearing Koto Town rumors about a red-haired girl desired by a prince. Hoping to profit, he kidnaps Shirayuki while she gathers herbs, imprisoning her in the dungeon of his dilapidated Mount Koto manor. His plan involves letting her hair grow to present her to nobility as her guardian. Shirayuki escapes using improvised tactics, including a numbing smoke bomb that incapacitates him, highlighting his mix of cunning and foolishness in acting on outdated information.

Following this failure, Mihaya shifts to a self-serving informant role. He later approaches Prince Zen at Wistal Castle, offering information about individuals targeting Shirayuki. Zen accepts his help distrustfully in searching for a "pretty boy" kidnapper in Tanbarun. Accompanying Zen's group there, Mihaya learns of Shirayuki's abduction by the pirate group Claw of the Sea. Recognizing an opportunity, he trades the pirates' location to Prince Raji in exchange for a reward: a title within Tanbarun's nobility, granting him a formal position with minimal tangible benefits.

His development includes a gradual move toward legitimate work alongside Kazuki, a former minor antagonist. Despite his aristocratic background, he undertakes laborious tasks without complaint. Visiting Shirayuki in Lilias for lunch, he shows visible disappointment when Kazuki plans a short stay. His pragmatic nature resurfaces when he offers to adopt Shirayuki into the Sisk family, providing her a court rank to narrow the social gap with Zen; she declines. This gesture reflects his persistent focus on leveraging status for gain, alongside a degree of respect for Shirayuki.

Mihaya's personality combines slyness, greed, and resourcefulness with underlying insecurity about his fallen status. Quotes like "Even if you have social status or family honor. Once your fortune is gone, you’re penniless. Why shouldn’t I earn money using all means?" underscore his worldview. Later portrayals depict him as a hard worker, particularly alongside Kazuki. Differences exist between adaptations: the manga emphasizes his family's criminal past as central to his motivations, while the anime downplays this aspect.
