Minami Wakaba is Ren Homura's classmate and a former teammate on Aoi Mizusawa's Monster Strike team. She displays an airheaded, eccentric personality, often delivering non-sequiturs and nonsensical dialogue while inventing her own unique greetings. Her behavior aligns with otaku tendencies, frequently mimicking and referencing popular anime and manga. Despite this scattered demeanor, she possesses a fundamentally kind-hearted nature, as observed by the monster Dudolph. Wakaba embodies the Genki Girl archetype, consistently exhibiting cheerfulness, high energy, and a bubbly disposition.

Initially introduced under the control of a mysterious entity forcing individuals into real-life Monster Strike matches, she joined Ren's team after being freed from this influence. She utilizes signature monsters Dead Rabbits, Ltd. and Al-mi'raj in battle. During the second season storyline, she remains part of Ren's core team alongside Aoi, Akira, and newcomer Mana Livingston, confronting disruptions caused by monsters manifesting in the real world outside the game. Her story unfolds across the first season, the second season (Monster Strike The Animation: The Fading Cosmos), and the OVA Mermaid Rhapsody.
