Description
Midori Kodama, universally known by her nickname "Jidama," ranks among the main protagonist's three closest friends. The nickname "Jidama" stems from an alternative reading of the kanji in her surname "Kodama," a choice made because she disliked her given name, mirroring a friend's initial resistance to her own nickname. Consequently, her close friends call her exclusively "Jidama."

Jidama embodies a distinct tomboyish energy, marked by an assertive and sometimes aggressive demeanor. This trait frequently results in male characters finding her intimidating, fitting a "No Guy Wants an Amazon" dynamic. Her practical nature extends to her attire; she consistently favors coveralls or overalls for daily wear and actively avoids dresses, reserving traditional girls' kimonos only for formal events. This pragmatism and directness also define her relationships, where she initially shows little interest in romance, contrasting sharply with her friends' experiences.

She lives with her grandmother, sharing a generally close and affectionate bond. However, this relationship faces temporary strain during one incident, prompting Jidama to leave home and stay with her friend Azusa, revealing underlying tensions beneath their usual care. Her mother, Aoi Kodama, works as a nurse and appears infrequently, notably in episode 102. Aoi's demanding profession creates childcare challenges, leading to periods of absence that suggest emotional distance from her daughter.

Though generally disinterested in romance, Jidama experiences a brief, unexpected attraction to a police officer who aids her during a home robbery. This infatuation ends immediately upon learning he is married. She participates in the "Club of Unreturned Love" with her friends, driven more by camaraderie than personal yearning.

As a fifth-grade student in Class 2 at Minami Elementary School, Jidama is approximately 11 years old, born on June 6. Her familial ties and social interactions consistently reinforce her role as a fiercely loyal, though occasionally combative, member within her friend group.
