Description
Ana Thomas, also known as Hailey Anne Thomas, is a human character debuting in the anime's second season. Her defining passion lies in space exploration, science fiction, and the anime "Sailor Cuties," leading her to interpret real-world events through these lenses. She acquires a Yo-kai Watch Model U prototype from an anime hobby store, initially confusing it for a space-themed device. This fascination drives her to establish the Ha-pyon Detective Agency alongside her partner Yo-kai, Usapyon, dedicated to solving mysteries involving Yo-kai. Ana exhibits a personality marked by rapid speech, occasional airheadedness, and a short attention span; these traits sometimes strain her partnership with Usapyon and inadvertently trigger his aggressive "Invader Mode."

In the film "Enma Daiō to Itsutsu no Monogatari da Nyan!", Ana features in two segments. During "USApyon's Merry Christmas," she assists Usapyon (acting as Santa Claus) with gift delivery, wearing a Santa outfit. They encounter a boy refusing gifts due to his mother's illness. In "Let's Go to the Yo-kai World," Ana joins Nate Adams, Whisper, Jibanyan, and others to confront the antagonist Zazel, who has imprisoned Lord Enma. She wears specialized exploration attire for this journey and participates in the battle against Zazel, utilizing a new Yo-kai Medal crucial to the conflict's resolution. Her initial interactions with Nate involve light teasing, evolving into cooperation by the end.

In the video game "Yo-kai Watch 3," Ana serves as a playable protagonist. Her story begins upon meeting Usapyon in an alleyway, leading to the formation of the detective agency. The agency's quests blend everyday mysteries with Yo-kai phenomena. Her path later converges with Nate's as they unite against the common enemy, the Ghoulfather. Ana demonstrates leadership during crises, such as searching for her missing younger brother, Joshua, and reveals occasional insecurity through hallucinatory sequences. In "Yo-kai Watch 4," she appears as a minor character, investigating temporal disruptions involving future Yo-kai before being kidnapped under mistaken identity. She also participates in combat using drone-based mechanics within the "Blasters++" mode.

Ana's relationships include her parents and brother Joshua, along with classmates like Jessica Stonewood and Isabel. While Jessica doesn't share Ana's niche interests, they maintain a close friendship. Her interactions with Isabel highlight social contrasts alongside mutual respect. Her foundational partnership with Usapyon features comedic conflict underpinned by loyalty. Recurring motifs involve her accidental triggering of Usapyon's Invader Mode and subsequent blasts, alongside her tendency to reference "Sailor Cuties" or space themes. Her attire evolves across media, typically featuring space-inspired or practical detective gear, and her Yo-kai Watch upgrades from the prototype to the Model U-2.
