Hidabat, known as Hikikoumori in Japanese, is a Rank D Wind-attribute Yo-kai initially classified in the Shady tribe before his reclassification to the Onnen tribe in Yo-kai Watch 4. His bat-like design showcases dark fur, sky-blue eyes, a gold-yellow collar, and blue wings adorned with golden-yellow hash symbols. Arm bands support these wings, enabling flight. He exhibits a strong preference for dark, secluded spaces and is frequently depicted using a laptop, characterized by extreme shyness and reclusiveness that drives him to avoid social interactions. His primary ability involves inspiriting humans or other Yo-kai, instilling an intense fear of the outside world and a compulsion to isolate indoors. In battle, Hidabat employs a basic "Slap" attack and the Wind-attribute "Tornado" technique against single foes. His "Shut Away" inspirit saps motivation, while his Soultimate Move, "Hidabat Harmony," hinders all enemies with a cursed lullaby. He possesses the "Vampiric" skill, absorbing HP through regular attacks. Within the anime, Hidabat debuts in "Yo-kai Hidabat," inspiriting Jibanyan until Nate intervenes. Accepting refuge in Nate's closet, Hidabat provides his Yo-kai Medal as "rent," establishing their friendship. Subsequent episodes reveal him as the second-richest Yo-kai, having built a vast business empire from Nate's closet via stock investments, corporate acquisitions (including Yo-Zon and Mog Mog Burger), and sports team ownership. This empire encompasses thousands of closets in an underground network. His wealth allows him to gift Nate a Yo-kai Watch U Prototype through connections with Mark Orckerberg. A significant development occurs in the Yo-kai Watch! spin-off (EX034), where Hidabat faces bankruptcy after failed ventures. His emotional distress triggers an evolution into Abodabat, trapping Nate, Whisper, and Jibanyan in another dimension. Following intervention from Jerry, he reverts to his original form and recovers financially through insurance claims related to the incident. Later (EX035), he assists Ghostess in a confrontation but becomes enraged when his chopstick collection is disturbed. Recurring motifs include transporting Nate's closet to various locations and occasional collaborations with other Yo-kai, such as aiding Komasan with a potion or locating a trespassing Gnomey. His relationships feature mutual tolerance with Nate, who provides shelter, and situational alliances with Whisper and Jibanyan, though interactions remain minimal due to his introverted nature. In the games, Hidabat appears in the Abandoned Tunnel (Yo-kai Watch, Yo-kai Watch 2), Gale and Whirlwind Labyrinths (Blasters T), and Ark Doors in Uptown Springdale (Yo-kai Watch 4). He is automatically befriended at the start of Yo-kai Watch Blasters and during Chapter 1 of Yo-kai Watch 4. Evolution paths include fusing with Tengloom or the Comfy Closet to yield Abodabat, or fusing with Wydeawake in Yo-kai Watch 2 to create Allnyta. He is required for Yo-kai Circles like the Indoorsmen and High Tech A Team. His name merges "hide" (or "hideout") and "bat," while his Japanese name "Hikikōmori" combines "hikikomori" (social recluse) and "kōmori" (bat), reflecting his thematic connection to withdrawal. Game nicknames include "Bruce," referencing Bruce Wayne/Batman.
