Description
Ryosuke Takahashi, known as the White Comet of Akagi, is the older son of a hospital director family expected to pursue medicine. He attended medical college while deeply involved in street racing, forming the Akagi RedSuns team to dominate Gunma’s racing scene. His signature white Mazda Savanna RX-7 FC3S earned him and his brother Keisuke the "Rotary Brothers" nickname for their rotary-engine Mazdas.

During medical studies, he developed a relationship with senior Kaori, who encouraged his racing. Their relationship ended tragically when Kaori, pressured into an arranged marriage with Ryosuke's former mentor Rin Hojo, committed suicide. This profoundly impacted Ryosuke, leading him to compartmentalize his past while focusing on racing. He later guided Keisuke away from biker gangs through touge racing, cementing their partnership in the RedSuns.

Ryosuke’s racing philosophy emphasizes analytical precision, using data and reconnaissance to develop strategies. His first major encounter with Takumi Fujiwara occurred after Takumi defeated Keisuke on Mount Akina. Studying Takumi’s technique, Ryosuke vowed to retire if defeated in their high-stakes race. During this race, he replicated Takumi’s gutter technique and forced errors, but excessive tire wear allowed Takumi to regain the lead and win. This loss ended Ryosuke’s unbeaten streak but solidified his respect for Takumi’s innate talent, leading to temporary retirement.

He returned to confront new threats like rival Kyoichi Sudo and Team Emperor. In a critical Akagi rematch, Ryosuke identified a flaw in Sudo’s right-turn technique—attributable to one-way road training—and exploited it to overtake and win, demonstrating strategic adaptability and psychological understanding.

Afterward, Ryosuke disbanded the RedSuns and founded Project D to break time records across Japan’s Kanto region within one year. He recruited Takumi and Keisuke as drivers, supported by mechanics and scouts like Kenta Nakamura. As Project D’s leader, he transitioned from active racer to mentor and tactician, providing cryptic but pivotal advice—such as instructing Takumi to avoid his rearview mirror against Todo School’s Daiki Ninomiya, enabling focus conservation for a counterattack. Project D’s name later symbolized Ryosuke’s "Dream" to cultivate legendary drivers.

In later years, Ryosuke became a physician while retaining ties to racing culture. He appears as an organizer and influential figure in the MFG race series, leveraging medical and technical expertise to support new drivers. His legacy endures through Project D’s impact on Japanese street racing and his role in shaping Takumi’s career.

Across media, Ryosuke’s character design fluctuates in facial structure and hair color (brown to blue), though defining traits—thick eyebrows, analytical demeanor, and leadership—remain consistent. In the *Legend 2: Racer* film, he appears during Takeshi Nakazato’s race against Takumi, analyzes the battle, and later issues Takumi a formal challenge as the film concludes. This adaptation emphasizes his observer role and catalyst function for Takumi’s growth without Keisuke present.

His development reflects a shift from individual ambition to legacy-building, prioritizing mentorship and strategic innovation over personal victories. The backstory with Kaori and Rin Hojo adds emotional depth, explaining his reserved nature and driving his commitment to nurturing talent like Takumi’s.
