Description
Ash's Noibat began as an Egg found by Ash's Hawlucha during training near Hyakkoku City. Hawlucha brought it to Ash and his companions, who took turns keeping it warm. Ash's Fletchinder used its Flame Body ability to help the Egg hatch, revealing a Noibat. Upon emerging, Noibat immediately imprinted on Ash, viewing him as a parent. This bond proved essential, as Noibat became distressed around others, unleashing powerful Supersonic cries that caused discomfort. Only Ash could consistently soothe it with gentle petting.

The young Noibat displayed inexperience and emotional vulnerability. It struggled significantly with flight, fighting to stay aloft despite assistance from Hawlucha and Fletchinder, its frustration often triggering more Supersonic outbursts. Yet it practically used its ultrasonic abilities to check fruit ripeness and navigate darkness. A pivotal moment came when Team Rocket captured Noibat and Hawlucha. Escaping into a cave, Noibat's echolocation pinpointed Team Rocket's positions, enabling Hawlucha to disable their soundproof gear. This teamwork secured their escape and solidified Noibat's trust in Hawlucha, whom it saw as an older sibling. Following this, Noibat officially joined Ash's team.

Noibat focused intensely on overcoming its flight difficulties. Persistent training, especially under Hawlucha's guidance, slowly improved its ability to handle wind currents. Participation in the Pokémon Sky Relay marked a key milestone; though it lost to Orson's Starly, Noibat mastered sustained flight, earning pride from Ash and the group. This boosted its confidence and usefulness. Noibat regularly aided navigation through dark caves, finding lost Pokémon or items like medicinal moss. It also fought in battles, using moves like Tackle against Team Flare. Once, it accidentally angered a Breloom by crushing flowers meant for a Floette. After being poisoned, it was healed by Floette's Aromatherapy. When Team Rocket later captured Breloom and Floette, Noibat learned Acrobatics to break their cage, showing growing determination and protectiveness.

Noibat evolved into Noivern during a confrontation with Zapdos. Witnessing Hawlucha fall after Zapdos's Thunder strike, Noibat pursued its falling friend at high speed. This urgent rescue triggered its evolution into Noivern, granting the speed needed to save Hawlucha. The evolution unlocked the move Boomburst. As Noivern, it battled Zapdos, using terrain for cover and landing blows with Boomburst. It further intervened to stop Team Rocket from capturing Zapdos, earning Zapdos's respect and ending its rampage, highlighting Noivern's enhanced courage and loyalty.

Post-evolution, Noivern showed greater battle confidence and protective instincts. It fought in key battles, including a loss to Alain's Metang despite dealing damage. Against Sawyer, it secured its first official win by defeating Doublade using Dragon Claw and Acrobatics, though it later fell to Clawitzer's Dragon Pulse. During the Lumiose Conference semifinals, Noivern clashed with Sawyer's Salamence. Their intense aerial duel, featuring Dragon Claw against Dragon Rush, ended in a simultaneous knockout, resulting in a draw. Beyond battles, Noivern maintained close bonds with Ash's Pokémon, particularly Hawlucha, Talonflame, Pikachu, Goodra, and Greninja, often socializing or training with them.
