Description
Clemont's Bunnelby began life in a derelict Lumiose City subway tunnel, residing with fellow Pokémon inside a repurposed train car. To sustain its companions, it surfaced and snatched an apple from Bonnie, prompting her and Clemont to follow it underground. They discovered the group endangered by a territorial Diggersby attempting to seize their refuge. Though initially overpowered by Diggersby, Bunnelby heeded Clemont’s tactical advice—mastering evasive maneuvers like Double Team and Dig—to defeat the aggressor and safeguard its home. When the subway faced demolition, Bunnelby, its allies, and the reconciled Diggersby collaborated with Clemont and Bonnie to energize the train car and escape. Afterward, Bunnelby’s friends urged it to join Clemont, culminating in its capture. Clemont expressed profound gratitude for its choice to become his partner.

Bunnelby maintained a calm, patient, and mature disposition, often counterbalancing Clemont’s excitable Chespin. It displayed fierce protectiveness, notably rescuing Bonnie from a perilous fall while sustaining a severe leg injury. Kindness defined its interactions, such as offering Serena’s timid Eevee a PokéPuff and shielding her from Chespin’s boisterousness, nurturing mutual trust. Bunnelby mirrored Clemont’s camera shyness, revealing their shared reserve. A Buneary’s infatuation initially unsettled it, yet Bunnelby remained steadfastly protective when both were abducted by Team Rocket.

In combat, Bunnelby exhibited resourcefulness. Against Ash’s Pikachu, it blocked Thunderbolt by crafting an earthen barrier with its ears, struck with Dig despite Pikachu’s agility, and countered with Double Slap. Trapping Pikachu’s tail with its ears backfired, exposing it to Electro Ball before Team Rocket intervened. During Clemont’s Gym battle versus Ash, Bunnelby unveiled Wild Charge, strategically combining it with Dig to lessen recoil damage. Pikachu ultimately triumphed with Iron Tail. Beyond Gyms, Bunnelby aided in reclaiming Lumiose Gym from Clembot by defeating Clemont’s Heliolisk, sparred with Ash’s team, thwarted Team Flare and Team Rocket operations, and with Chespin, retrieved stolen machinery while repelling foes using Mud Shot.

Bunnelby evolved into Diggersby after Clemont resumed Gym duties in Lumiose City but before Ash’s subsequent training visit. As Diggersby, it preserved its original temperament—serene, compassionate, and dependable—while supporting Clemont’s endeavors, such as coaching Ash’s Sirfetch’d and Dracovish.
