Description
Nagayori Akai appears in *Battle Spirits Burning Soul*, sporting brown hair accented by yellow front sections, black eyes, and distinctive red markings beneath them. His attire consists of a black shirt, baggy blue pants, and a long white jacket adorned with red designs. Personality-wise, he exhibits a cocky and arrogant demeanor, frequently looking down on unskilled battlers. He harbors deep admiration for Toshiie Homura, serving as both an adoring fan and a fiercely loyal follower within Toshiie's gang as part of the elite guard.

His battle journey begins in episode 1, where he overpowers Sasuke Akatsuki in Toshiie's stead and seizes Sasuke's deck. This victory is short-lived, however, as Yukimura Rekka challenges him and reclaims the deck, defeating Akai and causing him visible nervousness upon suspecting Yukimura's potential S-Class status. Spurred by Toshiie's departure from Musashi, Akai trains intensely to join Toshiie's team for the national tournament. He successfully reunites with Toshiie and registers with him as participants. During the tournament finals, his team faces the Kyuushuu-Okinawa representatives; his teammates secure the first-round wins, eliminating his need to battle. In the second round, he suffers a crushing defeat against Kanetsugu Houryokuin.

Witnessing Toshiie's subsequent loss to Dairokuten Maou in the semifinals enrages Akai, driving him to attack Dairokuten Maou—an attempt halted by Kanetsugu. He later shifts to supporting Yukimura Rekka in the final clash against Dairokuten Maou. By the series' conclusion, he observes the dream match between Yukimura and Toshiie alongside fellow gang members.

Akai wields a red deck, utilizing cards like Dos-Monkey, Ohdoran, Rainydle, One-Kengo, and The KatanaHero Musashied-Ashliger. His documented battle record includes a win against Sasuke and losses to Yukimura (episode 1) and Kanetsugu (episode 35). Trivia notes reveal the "赤" (red) kanji in his name mirrors his card color preference. He shares a namesake connection with Nagayori Murai, a historical retainer of Toshiie Maeda. His behavior aligns him with comic relief characters seen in other series installments, and he stands as the only named non-S-Class battler participating in the Warring States Championship.
