Description
Phoena stands as the narrative's central heroine. Daughter of a northern continent's ruler, later called the Black King, her early life centered on guarding the powerful Chronicle tome and striving to save her homeland after her father succumbed to the Blackening illness. Despite her efforts, her homeland fell to the Black Army. Urged to flee by dying protectors, she faced interception by the demon Eirenus before an unexpected rescue by the Black Knight, who secured her escape to Yggdra.

Discovered in Yggdra under monster attack, she was saved by the Hero and his sprite companion Pirika. This encounter rendered her unconscious, and she awoke afflicted by retrograde amnesia, bereft of identity or past recollection. The Chronicle remained her sole possession. Agreeing to journey with the Hero, Pirika, and the Volunteer Army, she sought to reclaim her memories, decipher the Chronicle's meaning, and aid those in need.

Phoena's character undergoes significant evolution. Initially reliant on others and often requiring rescue, she gradually recovers memory fragments. A pivotal mid-story revelation restores her identity as the Black King's daughter. This knowledge fuels her determination to shield Yggdra from her homeland's fate. She transforms from passivity into active leadership, organizing the crucial Round Table Conference to unite factions against the Black Army and confronting her father directly in the final battle.

Personality-wise, early portrayals show shyness, modesty, and naivete, contrasting Pirika's exuberance. Yet she demonstrates resilience, unwavering hope, and selflessness, consistently prioritizing others. She possesses a strong moral core, voicing convictions firmly in critical moments. Her compassion and resolve inspire loyalty and courage in allies, even stoic or cynical individuals. Occasional possessiveness surfaces, particularly regarding the Hero, evident in interactions with figures like Xien or Bernadette and intense declarations during events like the demon Armilus raid.

Key relationships define her journey. She shares a profound bond with the Hero, trusting him implicitly; subtle jealousy and protectiveness hint at romantic feelings. Pirika serves as companion and a source of lighthearted friction. Her most complex tie is with her father; once a loving parent who endured her terrible cooking, he becomes her ultimate adversary through the Blackening's corruption. Alliances with Volunteer Army members like Kain, Michidia, and Marina also shape her path.

Notable traits include her hazardous cooking, avoided by allies and her father alike. She retains cultural roots, utilizing her homeland's written alphabet. Her appearances span nearly all storylines: main quests, character episodes like Tales of Encounters and Tales of Destiny, and event quests such as The Queen’s Ascension and Academy Festival.
