Description
Nyaruko is the main protagonist and title character of the anime and light novel series Nyaruko: Crawling with Love. She belongs to an alien race known as the Nyarlathotep, a species that served as the inspiration for the deity of the same name in the works of H. P. Lovecraft. In the world of the series, these Lovecraftian entities are real extraterrestrial races, and Nyaruko works as an agent of the Space Defense Agency, an organization tasked with protecting planets from hostile alien activity. She is assigned to Earth to guard a high school student named Mahiro Yasaka, who has become a target of alien traffickers and various other extraterrestrial threats.
Before ever meeting Mahiro, Nyaruko saw a picture of him and fell in love with him at first sight, so her protection mission quickly becomes intertwined with a determined romantic pursuit. To blend into human society, she uses her shapeshifting ability to take the form of a petite, silver-haired girl, typically dressed in a maid outfit. She adopts the name Nyaruko Yasaka, pretends to be Mahiro's cousin, moves into his house, and enrolls at his school, even though she has already graduated from one of the most prestigious universities in the galaxy.
In personality, Nyaruko is energetic, cheerful, and rarely downcast. She is openly fond of anime, manga, video games, and superhero shows, and she has a mischievous and sometimes perverted side that revolves almost entirely around Mahiro. Her feelings for him are genuine; she wants to marry him and start a family, and she expresses this through constant teasing, physical affection, and elaborate schemes to get closer to him, many of which simply embarrass or annoy him.
