TV-Series
Description
Irisviel von Einzbern is a homunculus crafted by the Einzbern family, bearing the lineage's distinctive silver hair and red eyes. Within the Prisma Illya timeline, she survives and sustains her marriage to Kiritsugu Emiya, unlike other continuities. They parent Illyasviel von Einzbern and Shirou Emiya, the latter adopted into their family. Irisviel's frequent international travels delegate Illya's daily care to maids Sella and Leysritt, though she periodically returns home driven by intuitive maternal concerns for her daughter, always bearing family souvenirs.

Her personality radiates cheerfulness and carefreeness, often smiling through any situation. This lighter portrayal contrasts with other Fate series, minimizing seriousness while preserving sparks of wisdom. She shares a profound maternal bond with Illya, keenly aware of her daughter's sealed powers and emotional state—including Illya's feelings for Shirou, which Irisviel playfully encourages. She teases Shirou about his relationships with Illya, Kuro, Miyu, Rin, and Luvia, even using his photographs as incentives for Rin and Luvia. Despite her levity, she remains perceptive of threats to her children, initially distrusting Caren Hortensia's motives. She adapts swiftly to family expansions, embracing Chloe von Einzbern as a daughter after resolving Chloe's conflict with Illya. A notorious constant is her perilously reckless driving, indifferent to vehicle condition.

Her background diverges sharply from main Fate timelines. She discloses to Illya and Chloe that the Einzberns once planned a Holy Grail War in Fuyuki City, designating infant Illya as the Fourth War vessel. Kiritsugu intervened, compelling the family to abandon the ritual or face ruin—they chose abandonment, triggering their decline. This averted events requiring her original role as a homunculus Grail vessel, leaving her connection to the ritual ambiguous in Prisma Illya. Consequently, Illya retains stronger Grail ties despite Irisviel's survival.

Key involvements include her direct intervention in the 2wei storyline. She halts the battle between Illya and her manifestation Chloe (Kuro), revealing Chloe embodies Illya's original Grail-conduit personality, sealed by Irisviel at eight months to grant Illya normalcy. After Illya stabilizes Chloe with mana, Irisviel adopts Chloe as Chloe von Einzbern, integrating her into the household. Later, near a forest battlefield, Irisviel confronts Caren Hortensia over abnormal energy surges. When Caren suggests a non-Einzbern Holy Grail ritual might occur, Irisviel reacts with shock, declaring it impossible while she lives. She then actively hunts for Illya and the energy's source.

Her abilities include mastery of creation and forging magecraft, demonstrated when she morphs flexible wires into a massive human hand capable of immobilizing foes and fracturing terrain—once used to restrain Illya and Chloe as punishment. Her intuition, stemming from her maternal link to Illya, repeatedly guides her timely returns home.
