Description
Eld Gin, also recognized as Eld Jinn, serves as an elite soldier within the Scout Regiment and holds the position of second-in-command in Captain Levi Ackerman’s Special Operations Squad. His appearance is marked by long blond hair parted centrally and secured in a rear bun, a trimmed beard, and the regiment’s signature attire: a green cloak emblazoned with the Wings of Freedom emblem.

A disciplined and resolute leader, Eld balanced stern authority with dry wit, often chiding squadmates Petra Rall and Oruo Bozad over their initial Titan-induced trepidation, dubbing them “fine fearless soldiers” in sardonic reproach. He valued a soldier’s integrity through duty and collaboration above mere combat prowess. When Eren Yeager’s uncontrolled Titan transformation sparked alarm, Eld pressed for unambiguous intent, underscoring his no-nonsense stance on trust. After a misjudgment toward Eren, he and the squad ritually bit their hands in atonement, cementing their unity.

Eld played a pivotal role in the 57th Exterior Scouting Mission, strategizing to safeguard Eren and subdue the Female Titan. Utilizing omni-directional gear to generate smoke diversions and direct strikes, he briefly outmaneuvered the Titan by blinding it and amputating limbs. However, its rapid regeneration turned the tide, culminating in Eld’s fatal bisection. His demise, alongside Petra and Oruo, haunted Eren, who later cited him as emblematic of the Titan conflict’s relentless brutality.

In subsequent events, Eld’s influence endured. He materialized in Commander Erwin Smith’s dying vision, silently challenging the purpose of their sacrifices. Hange Zoë later invoked his memory to condemn Eren’s global annihilation strategy, asserting fallen Scouts like Eld would reject such carnage. Posthumously, he joined spectral comrades in saluting Levi, honoring their captain’s resolve before fading.

Boasting 46 Titan eliminations (32 collaborative, 14 solo), Eld stood among the regiment’s most lethal combatants. His skill ratings—memory (10/10), combat (8/10), teamwork (7/10)—refined through tactical gear and blade mastery, highlighted his battlefield adaptability.

Eld’s name, rooted in Old Norse (“flame”) and Old English (“old”), mirrors his role as a seasoned, fiery leader whose flaws and fidelity underscored narratives of sacrifice, trust, and war’s enduring toll.
