Description
Wilhelm Hahn, former head researcher of the Republic of Great Zogilia’s Science Academy 2nd Research Laboratory, spearheaded advancements in Coupling technology. Once a protégé of Alessandro Fermi in the Free Pact Alliance, he abandoned the FPA after clashing with Fermi’s ethical boundaries, pursuing unfettered scientific innovation in Zogilia. His work centered on coercive activation methods for Coupling systems, directly opposing Fermi’s emphasis on pilot consent. This included brainwashing Hina Ryazan to forcibly synchronize her with a Coupling unit, reflecting his ruthless prioritization of progress over morality.

Renowned for his sharp intellect and dismissive arrogance, Hahn treated Coupler pilots as disposable assets. He engineered the ZTA-N-101 Karkinos, a colossal Valiatlas armed with a standalone Coupling System designed to disable enemy units through jamming and overpower them with concentrated firepower. The system inflicted debilitating neurological stress on pilots, demanding rigid time constraints to avert irreversible brain damage. His experiments on war orphans, such as Fromm Vantarhei, resulted in multiple fatalities and prompted surviving subjects to defect to the Alliance.

Hahn wielded caustic wit, notably ridiculing Margaret O’Keefe’s successor, and relied on sugar-laden coffee to fuel his relentless focus. Strategically, he exploited the 300-second operational threshold of Coupling systems, though unpredictable pilot compatibilities occasionally undermined his schemes. Despite his technical brilliance, he privately grappled with insecurity over failing to match the legacy of Elvira Hill, a peer he viewed as a rival.

During Zogilia’s military operations, he orchestrated captures of Coupling Valiancers and sanctioned covert methods to procure prototype technology. His career concluded with a classified deceased status, absent public documentation on the events leading to his demise.
