Description
Alfried Gallant, a lieutenant colonel in the Zogilian National Defense Force, commands the 193rd Independent Submarine Brigade's 501st Mobile Squadron. Renowned as "the star of the National Defense Force," he is an ace pilot and skilled tactician. His personal Valiancer unit is the Alsiel.

Gallant operates with calm logic. He demonstrates loyalty to comrades, pursuing vengeance for Passo's death after witnessing him fall protecting Gallant from Dio Weinberg. He intervenes to secure Hina Ryazan's release from detention when suspicion falls upon her after an enemy pilot knows her name. Though he believes individuals causing their own demise bear responsibility, he saves Margaret O'Keefe when she faces such a situation. Later, he pragmatically supports a plan potentially restoring her administrative position. Privately, he questions Zogilia's aggressive pursuit of Nectoribium resources as potentially reckless.

Commanding from the Trident submarine, which transforms into an aerial mode to surprise adversaries like the Cygnus, Gallant engages in multiple operations against the Free Pact Alliance. These include the failed capture of their new Valiancers and the assault on Chitose Base. After the Cygnus escapes using the Bradyon and Luxon's advanced coupling, he accepts the outcome, prioritizing securing the base over pursuit. His tactical acumen repeatedly corners the Cygnus.

Serving under Evgeni Kedar (formerly Bizon Gerafil) during the space battle to protect the Gorgon cannon, Gallant opposes Evgeni's plan to fire the weapon at Earth's Nectoribium deposits. He recognizes the catastrophic consequences and attempts to reason with him. Following Margaret O'Keefe's overthrow of the Zogilian administration, Gallant assumes a top command position. He negotiates a peace treaty with the Alliance leadership, contributing to the war's resolution.
