Description
Captain Kanki Akuh commands the Martian Defense Forces battleship *Aoba* during the war against the alien "Gods." He previously survived the near-total destruction of his first command, the original *Aoba*, at the Battle of Eden Plateau. After two months of rehabilitation, he assumed command of a newly commissioned vessel at Achilles Springs base. This assignment presented as defensive operations but masked a covert offensive mission against the aliens.

Akuh demonstrates determined leadership, eager for active duty despite his trauma. He maintains professional command over key subordinates Commander Yutaka Todoroki and Second Lieutenant Takeshi Hijikata, both veterans of his previous command. His leadership includes deploying the *Aoba* to defend Achilles Springs against an imminent alien assault, based on critical intelligence.

A significant personal relationship involves Lieutenant Darsa Kerrigan (also spelled Darsa Keligan), an intelligence officer and former romantic partner. Their reunion at Achilles Springs rekindled their relationship, which became strained when Kerrigan exhibited symptoms of alien subversion: heightened aggression and nymphomania, identified as signs of mental control by "The Gods." This subversion led her to attempt to assassinate Akuh after he refused to desert with her; Akuh killed her in self-defense. During the confrontation, Kerrigan revealed she had concealed intelligence about alien operations beneath artificial skin applied to Akuh's earlier wounds.

Akuh later discovered his command vessel was not new, but the original *Aoba* rebuilt and upgraded with experimental weaponry. His subsequent mission involved spearheading a solo, suicidal assault to destroy "Hell," the aliens' primary stealth carrier. The successful destruction of this carrier formed the climax of his documented actions.

Throughout these events, Akuh demonstrated adaptability in countering internal threats, including counterintelligence operations against subverted personnel like Colonel Coleman. His discovery of Kerrigan’s hidden data chip, containing tactical intelligence on alien movements, directly enabled the defense of Achilles Springs, showcasing his resourcefulness under duress.
