Description
Kikuno Shōkanji is a first-year student in class 1-F at Hatagaya School. She has dark green hair, typically worn in a side ponytail tied with a blue polka dot ribbon. Her hairstyle includes square bangs and neck-length strands that frame her face, and a distinct beauty mark sits beneath her eye. Her golden-brown eyes and usual attire—a school uniform, apron, and stockings—complete her look.

She is energetic and expressive, often displaying a cheerful and doting demeanor. Kikuno exhibits a strong attachment to her childhood friend, Souta Hatate, acting toward him with persistent affection and a sisterly manner. This fixation shows in physical gestures like tackle-hugging and a constant desire to care for him. A core trait is her recurring "sibling love" flag, symbolizing unwavering devotion that persists despite attempts to break it.

Kikuno and Souta were childhood best friends separated when his family moved away. During their time apart, she studied overseas, missing enough school to be placed in the same first-year class as him upon her return to Japan and transfer to Hatagaya School. After reuniting, she quickly joined his social circle, befriending Nanami Knight Bladefield and Akane Mahougasawa. She lives in the Quest Dorm alongside Souta and the other female characters.

In her past, she formed a friendship with Rin Eiyūzaki while separated from Souta. She spoke to Rin about her childhood friend but was initially unaware that Rin also shared a past connection with Souta. Within a narrative framework involving a party assembled to change a destined fate, Kikuno serves as the "summoner."

Her actions include organizing group activities, such as coordinating a method for everyone to wake Souta up simultaneously. She occasionally shows jealousy, as when she felt upset at the prospect of another character, Kurumiko, becoming a little sister figure to Souta, fearing it would undermine her own role. Ultimately, she decided to accept Kurumiko as her own little sister as well. She also participates in group events, like a pillow fight at Akane's house.

Her name, Kikuno Shōkanji, carries meaning: "Kikuno" combines "chrysanthemum" (菊, kiku) and "from" (乃, no), while her surname "Shōkanji" means "summoning" (召喚, shōkan) and "temple" (寺, ji).
