Movie
Description
Xerneas, the Fairy-type Legendary Life Pokémon, shares eternal life when the horns on its head shine in seven colors. It infuses energy and vitality into humans and Pokémon, creating vast forests or restoring life using its life energy. Xerneas manifests in two forms: Active Mode, with multicolored antlers and markings during battle or power use, and Neutral Mode, featuring cyan antlers and markings while resting or traveling. Its power stems from the unique Fairy Aura ability.
Centuries before the movie's events, during the "Great Destruction" in Allearth Forest caused by Yveltal the Destruction Pokémon, Xerneas intervened, saving the Carbink Dace and other Pokémon, later reversing Yveltal's damage. When the Heart Diamond sustaining the Diamond Domain weakened, its ruler Diancie sought Xerneas, believing Fairy Aura would unlock her power to create a stable replacement. Meeting Diancie, Xerneas revealed awareness of her quest, granted her Fairy Aura, established a telepathic connection, and emphasized her true power originated within, awakened by Fairy Aura.
Later, upon Yveltal's reawakening and petrification of living beings, including Pikachu and Team Rocket, Xerneas intervened again. It shielded Ash and his companions from Yveltal's Oblivion Wing using Aurora Beam. Employing Fairy Aura, Xerneas quelled Yveltal's rage, prompting its departure. Xerneas then used Geomancy to revive all petrified individuals and restore the forest. This act exhausted its life energy, transforming it into a tree. Xerneas clarified this was not death but the beginning of a new life, remaining in tree form to watch over Allearth Forest.
Beyond the movie, Xerneas acts as a guardian of natural balance. Legends recount it rescuing wounded Pokémon during an ancient war, revered for sustaining life. After expending significant energy, it enters a millennial slumber as a tree. In other media, like *New Pokémon Snap*, it appears as an Illumina Pokémon, credited with saving the Lental region from a meteorite and originating the Illumina phenomenon.
