Description
Nozomi Yumehara, also known as Cure Dream, is a main character in the Pretty Cure franchise. She is introduced as a second-year student at L'École des Cinq Lumières Middle School who lacks a clear life direction or notable talents but possesses a cheerful, optimistic, and kind-hearted nature. She has a defining habit of exclaiming "It's decided!" when making determinations. Her life changes upon encountering Coco, a fairy from the Palmier Kingdom, and discovering the Dream Collet in her school library. This event leads to her transformation into Cure Dream, the Pretty Cure of Hope, and she assembles a team of four other Cures to combat the organization Nightmare and restore the Palmier Kingdom by collecting 55 Pinkies for the Dream Collet.

Nozomi has round dark mauve eyes and straight dark magenta shoulder-length hair, typically worn down with small sections pulled into pigtails secured by yellow bobbles. Her casual attire in Yes! Pretty Cure 5 GoGo! consists of a pale pink puffy long-sleeved blouse with dark mauve scalloped trimming, dark indigo knee-length pants with rolled gray cuffs, and brown crisscross flats. Various movies show alternative outfits, including a pink and dark magenta checkered puffy jacket with a fluffy hood in one film and a frilly pale yellow and pink ensemble in another. As an adult, her hair is longer, tied into braids with a gold clip, and she wears professional attire such as a light violet dress shirt with a peach pink coat and dark purple belt.

Transforming into Cure Dream alters her appearance significantly. Her hair brightens to pink, grows long, and curls at the ends, with her pigtails forming large rings held by yellow swallowtail butterfly-shaped clips. She wears pink butterfly earrings and an outfit consisting of a cream and fuchsia two-piece crop top and skirt with matching fingerless gloves and socks. A pink swallowtail butterfly-shaped bow with a green circular brooch accents her chest. Several upgraded forms exist. Super Cure Dream features lighter hair, additional ruffles on the outfit, sharper hair clips, and large pink swallowtail butterfly wings. The Shining Dream form has neon pink hair, white wing-shaped hair accessories, a pale pink and magenta outfit with feather-like designs, and giant angelic wings. The Rainbow Cure Dream form retains the Shining Dream appearance but with smaller gold wings. The Dream Cure Grace form features even longer hair with a lighter gradient, a white dress with butterfly-wing skirt designs, and a large yellow butterfly-shaped bow on the back.

Nozomi's personality is characterized by caringness, a big heart, and an optimistic outlook. She compensates for a lack of skills with friendliness and kindness, even towards enemies. A somewhat late thinker, she is easily distracted, particularly by food, and can be childish, loud, and clumsy. As Cure Dream, she becomes more serious, gains strength, and never hesitates to help others. A significant personal development is her eventual realization that she wants to become a teacher, driven by her enjoyment of helping others. Despite poor academic performance, a hard-working spirit and hopeful nature allow for continuous self-improvement.

Key relationships define her journey. Her childhood best friend, Rin Natsuki (Cure Rouge), shares a close bond despite their contrasting personalities. Kasugano Urara (Cure Lemonade) becomes a strong friend whom Nozomi supports. The fairy Coco serves as both a mentor and protector; Nozomi develops a crush on his human form upon first meeting him, and their relationship deepens over time. Official media reveals they eventually marry after Coco proposes during her recovery from a battle-related injury. Another significant relationship is with Milk/Kurumi Mimino (Milky Rose); initially contentious, particularly over food and Coco's attention, it eventually evolves into friendship.

Nozomi's capabilities as Cure Dream include various attacks. Initially, she uses Dream Attack. With power upgrades via the Dream Torch, she gains Crystal Shoot. Team-based attacks include Five Explosion with the other four Cures. In later seasons, she uses Shooting Star and, with the Cure Fleurets, Rainbow Rose Explosion. Alongside Milky Rose, she performs Floral Explosion. The Super Cure Dream form enables a powerful version of Five Explosion. The Shining Dream form utilizes a new Cure Fleuret for enhanced abilities.
