His initial encounter with Rouga Aragami's criminal persona "Wolf" near the Photon Metal mines sparked interest in Rouga's ability to manifest card effects in reality, occurring prior to their formal academy meeting. During Sengoku Academy's team match against Aibo Academy, Shosetsu defeated Kazane Fujimiya with relative ease and then overcame Zanya Kisaragi using strategic item-switching tactics and his Buddy's ability to bypass defenses.
