Description
Tasuku Ryuenji, a seventh-grade student at Aibo Academy, serves in the Buddy Police, combating buddyfighting misuse. His past is marked by "The Disaster," a tragic mountain stranding where he encountered Jackknife Dragon. Rescued by the Buddy Police, this experience led to his recruitment and fostered a belief in adult over-sheltering, driving his desire for independence and premature maturity—a tendency Commander I noted might cause him to "grow up too fast."

Initially wielding a Dragon World deck, his buddy is Jackknife Dragon, and his core gadget the "Star Pulser." Their buddy skill, "Sky Circle," grants flight. Manipulated in his sense of justice by Kyoya Gaen, Tasuku temporarily defects to the antagonistic group Disaster, adopting the alias "Purgatory Knight." In this role, he uses a Darkness Dragon World deck with buddy Purgatory Knights Leader, Demios Sword Dragon, and utilizes dark armor as his core gadget. This descent reflects disillusionment with the Buddy Police's perceived corruption, a view of children's powerlessness against adults, and deep self-blame for failing to protect his family during The Disaster. Upon returning to the Buddy Police, he transitions to a Star Dragon World deck, with Jackknife evolving into Star Guardian Jackknife and later Star Dragoner Jackknife.

His character arc features significant conflicts with authority. In Episode 33, he disobeys orders by attempting to use "Future Force"—a temporary power mimicry ability—to arrest Rouga Aragami, resulting in suspension. Later, in Episodes 42-43, confronting institutional inaction over "Grim Reaper" buddy theft incidents, he resigns after the Buddy Police dismiss his reports on Dark Core Deck Cases and Disaster's infiltration, declaring, "I’ll find the truth alone." He infiltrates Disaster's hideout with undercover agent Captain Answer's assistance, a life-risking mission later aided by Gao Mikado.

His relationship with Jackknife Dragon is central, defined by mutual loyalty and familial bonds, with both willing to sacrifice for the other, leading to emotional reunions after separations. His interactions with Gao Mikado evolve from a friendly rivalry—including their first duel where Tasuku loses but gifts Gao his signature card, Gargantua Punisher—into a profound partnership. In *Future Card Buddyfight Triple D*, while on Buddy Police leave, he assists Gao and uncovers hidden abilities in Gao's new buddy, Bal Dragon. He also forms a tactical "Brains and Brawn" alliance with Gaito Kurouzu. By *Future Card Buddyfight Ace*, he ascends to Commissioner of the Buddy Police.

Key abilities include the "Dragon Force of Joy" and its evolution, "Style of Justice," obtained during *Triple D*, enhancing combat with luminous energy and crystalline aesthetics. His fighting style emphasizes strategy, contrasting Gao's instinctual approach. Generally cool and principled, he exhibits moments of humor, like misunderstanding nicknames, and profound vulnerability, particularly when confronting past failures or Jackknife's safety.
