Description
Tetsuya Kurodake is a sixth-grade student at Aibo Academy who wields a Magic World deck centered on the 72 Pillars archetype in Buddyfights. His core gadget is a pair of headphones featuring an emotive button that displays his mood, typically showing a happy face. A distinctive physical trait is the edible bananas attached to his hat, which regenerate after being plucked. His buddy skill manifests as a flying banana. Initially an amateur with a disorganized deck, he ranked lowest among Aibo Academy's sixth graders. After Baku Omori rebuilt his deck to better utilize his buddy Demon Lord Asmodai's abilities and address strategic flaws, his skills improved significantly. This led to victories against opponents like Noboru Kodo during the ABC Cup qualifiers, though he suffered losses in the ABC Cup first round to Jin Magatsu and in early fights against Rouga Aragami.

His buddy, Demon Lord Asmodai, is a pink-skinned demon possessing shape-shifting and cloning abilities, serving as both mentor and entertainer. Their exceptionally strong friendship features Asmodai frequently encouraging him and offering strategic advice through humor and riddles during matches. This bond proved crucial when Asmodai helped him overcome emotional distress during a critical match against Sofia Sakharov using illusions and tactical support. Asmodai later revealed his identity as the Second Omni Demon Lord, a member of the Omni Lords tasked with protecting Earth from threats like Yamigedo. During this conflict, Tetsuya joined the Omni Lords' efforts to save the world, facing the risk of petrification if defeated.

Tetsuya exhibits a fun-loving, optimistic personality, often integrating rap and dance into Buddyfights. He prioritizes enjoyment over victory, viewing Buddyfight as a means to build friendships. This outlook was tested when he developed feelings for Terumi Kuchinawa, whose memory was erased by Sofia. The emotional turmoil led him to nearly forfeit his Gaen Cup match against Sofia in exchange for information about Terumi's past, breaking down in tears mid-fight. With Asmodai's intervention, he regained focus and defeated Sofia, scoring Balle du Soleil's first victory in the finals. Terumi's subsequent memory loss deeply affected him, though he maintained his positive demeanor. His resilience and selflessness are demonstrated through actions like volunteering for high-stakes fights to boost team morale during Balle du Soleil's internal conflicts.

In Season 2, he became a Buddy Police officer after defeating Magoroku Shido (as Death Shido), recognizing Gao Mikado's struggles with balancing duties. His Buddy Police involvement included battles against members of Hundred Demons and other adversaries, though he faced losses to opponents like Mukuro Shigamine. His deck strategy evolved to emphasize spell support and field control, using cards like "Magical Goodbye!" to disrupt opponents and "Solomon's Great Barrier" to enhance his monsters' capabilities. This approach reflected his energetic and unpredictable style, often overwhelming adversaries through multi-attack combos and psychological pressure. Across later seasons, he continued participating in Buddyfights, including team matches alongside Zanya Kisaragi, though his win-loss record remained mixed with notable losses to Gao Mikado and others.
