Description
Zanya Kisaragi stands as a central figure in the narrative, recognized as the top sixth-grade Buddyfighter at Aibo Academy. His appearance is distinct: long dark blue hair often secured in a ponytail with prominent bangs, striking red eyes, and a height of 160 cm. He wears a white military-style uniform accented with purple, featuring a golden-yellow epaulette on the right lapel and a medallion on his chest pocket that later transforms into the Buddy Police insignia. Functionality integrates into his glasses via a scope embedded in the right lens, used strategically during Buddyfights.

Deep loyalty defines his bond with his younger brother, Akatsuki Kisaragi, and unwavering trust extends to his Buddy, Nanomachine Ninja Tsukikage. Zanya approaches Buddyfights with meticulous preparation, researching opponents to deploy trap-based strategies and counter their tactics; however, unforeseen outcomes can trigger visible shock. A defining trait is his severe gynophobia, manifesting as discomfort around talkative individuals, particularly girls. This phobia historically caused misplays and fainting during matches against female opponents, like his Gaen Cup loss to Suzuha Amanosuzu. Guided by Akatsuki and adapting methods such as an opaque visor during his fight against Kuguru Uki, he gradually mitigates this fear.

His background intertwines with ninja traditions, evidenced by a childhood ninja costume resembling Akatsuki's. He harbors a fierce rivalry with Genma Todoroki, ignited by a decisive ABC Cup rematch defeat after Genma unveiled Martial Arts Dragon Emperor, Duel Sieger's hidden form—a blow profoundly impacting Zanya's pride. Initial distrust, exemplified by skepticism towards Gao Mikado's offers, shifts after Gao rescues Tsukikage from Disaster's control. Motivated by gratitude and vengeance against Disaster, Zanya joins Balle du Soleil. Within the team, he tests new members like Tetsuya Kurodake, accepting him after evaluating his strategic judgment despite Tetsuya's loss in their trial fight.

Zanya participates in critical missions, including rescuing Kiri Hyoryu from Sengoku Academy and investigating the criminal "Grim Reaper," who temporarily stole Tsukikage. During the Gaen Cup, under orders from his Buddy Police official father, he confronts Rouga Aragami to determine if Rouga is the fugitive "Wolf." After losing the match despite a near-certain advantage, he chooses to lie to his father about Rouga's identity, a complex moral stance influenced by Rouga's personal revelations.

His fighting style and deck evolve significantly. Initially, he wields a Ninja deck centered on Tsukikage, utilizing abilities like Shiden's hand advantage and Kashinkoji's hand surveillance to deploy counter-based "Secret Sword" impacts. Season 2 sees the integration of Nanomachine Ninja Byakuya without replacing Tsukikage as primary Buddy. Later, he adopts new strategies, including a deck focused on Ghoul Deity Gojinmaru and the Absolute Sword, Azure Cascade Formation, enabling direct fighter attacks and damage manipulation. By Season 3, his deck incorporates Tsukikage’s "Kuroyasha Mode" and Byakuya’s "Shiroyasha Mode," emphasizing field persistence and multi-attack capabilities, culminating in his final known "Kisaragi Legend of Sky" deck.

Key relationships shape his journey: a protective dynamic with Akatsuki, a respectful rivalry with Genma, and eventual camaraderie within Balle du Soleil. Recurring elements include meditation practices with Akatsuki and Tsukikage, and a running gag where his glasses break during gynophobia-induced panic before inexplicably repairing themselves.
