He exhibits a prideful, competitive personality, constantly striving to prove his superiority over adversaries like the player character. His tricky and strategic approach manifests in frequent ambush tactics and surprise attacks, such as blasting the player from the sky to capture their partner and deploying Electrode to destroy Big Brooker Bridge for escape. His initial antagonistic drive leads him to awaken legendary Pokémon Moltres at Faldera Volcano and Articuno on Mt. Sorbet, wielding their power to further the Pinchers' control over Oblivia.

Throughout key confrontations, he battles using Pokémon including Charizard, Typhlosion, and Electrode for strategic disruption. Defeats—losing Charizard at Faldera Volcano and Typhlosion on Mt. Sorbet—shatter his confidence, culminating in his withdrawal from the Pinchers after a decisive final loss.

A significant shift occurs post-game. He abandons his former role and independently investigates abnormal behavior of the legendary birds, discovering the final piece of the Golden Armor. Contacting the player and partner, he arranges a meeting at Mt. Sorbet's base, initially feigning interest in selling the artifact. After a battle using Blaziken without his control gauntlet, he reveals his true intent: leaving the Golden Armor for the rangers' use. He later assists indirectly by returning seals for Entei and Suicune's Involith monuments and suggesting the location of Raikou's discarded seal on Mt. Latolato. This arc transitions him from primary antagonist to reluctant ally focused on rectifying past actions.
