Description
Natsuya, recognized as Ben in English adaptations, operates as a dedicated Pokémon Ranger combating the illicit operations of the Pokémon Pinchers across the Oblivia region. Charged with safeguarding Pokémon and ancient relics, he undertakes high-stakes missions alongside Summer, his fellow Ranger, whose role as either partner or protagonist varies based on player selection. As the protagonist, he bonds with a spirited Ukulele Pichu, while as a supporting character, he commands a loyal Staraptor. His assignments frequently pit him against Red Eyes, the enigmatic leader of the Pinchers, and involve reclaiming pilfered artifacts like the mystical Ranger Signs.
While defending Latios from a Pinchers ambush, Natsuya clashes with Red Eyes, resulting in a crash landing on Dolce Island. There, he subdues a feisty Ukulele Pichu using his Capture Styler, forging an enduring alliance. The Pichu later aids him during a Rasp Cavern mission, where he thwarts the theft of a Ranger Sign by confronting a Pinchers-controlled Cranidos. After freeing the Cranidos, he pursues the fleeing criminals, crossing paths with the legendary Raikou.
Amid a volcanic crisis, Natsuya races to secure Heatran, a Pokémon capable of triggering catastrophic eruptions. Temporarily disarmed by Team Rocket, he recovers his stolen Capture Styler with help from Ash and allies. Leveraging a Ranger Sign, he summons Feraligatr to traverse molten terrain, ultimately subduing Heatran to prevent disaster. His sharp environmental awareness—like detecting subterranean heat shifts—proves vital to his success.
Guided by his grandfather’s teachings, Natsuya faces adversity with relentless optimism and quick thinking, prioritizing Pokémon safety above all. His attire—a blue Ranger uniform, yellow scarf, red goggles, and fingerless gloves—reflects his practical, action-driven lifestyle, complemented by his brown hair and eyes.
His dynamic with Summer blends professional rapport with subtle romantic undertones when she is player-selected. His grandfather’s wisdom remains a cornerstone of his ethical resolve. In missions, he strategically employs Pokémon like Staraptor, Pidgeot, and Heatran via his Capture Styler, often invoking Feraligatr’s aid through Ranger Signs to overcome obstacles.
