Description
Illyasviel von Einzbern, commonly known as Illya, hails from an alternate timeline separate from the main Fate/stay night universe. A pivotal divergence occurs when her parents, Kiritsugu Emiya and Irisviel von Einzbern, abandon the Fourth Holy Grail War ritual during her infancy. They seal her preexisting magecraft knowledge and destiny as a Holy Grail vessel, enabling her to live a normal childhood as an elementary school student in Fuyuki City. Raised under the care of maids Sella and Leysritt alongside her adoptive brother Shirou Emiya, Illya experiences her parents' frequent absences due to overseas travel.

Initially cheerful, socially adept, and somewhat naive, Illya enjoys anime, cute animals, and stuffed toys. She secretly harbors a crush on Shirou, a fact the sentient Kaleidostick Magical Ruby often teases her about. Contrasting her solitary Fate/stay night counterpart, this Illya displays pronounced shyness and easily flustered reactions, especially in comedic or morally ambiguous scenarios. She possesses a distinct fascination with maid outfits, though she dislikes the official Einzbern attire. Over time, she matures into a resilient individual willing to face overwhelming challenges to protect friends and uphold her morals.

Her journey commences when Magical Ruby selects her as its master, transforming her into a magical girl tasked with collecting dangerous Class Cards—fragments of Heroic Spirits manifesting across Fuyuki. Though initially reluctant and frequently expressing a desire for normalcy, she gradually embraces her role after partnering with Miyu Edelfelt, another magical girl contracted to Magical Sapphire. Their collaboration deepens into a strong friendship, with Illya often acting as the group's moral compass.

A critical development arises when Illya's sealed memories and magical energy inadvertently surface, creating a separate entity known as Kuro (later named Chloe von Einzbern). Initially antagonistic, Kuro shares Illya's appearance but features darker skin, light pink hair, and a more assertive, flirtatious personality. Following initial conflicts, Illya accepts Kuro as her "younger sister," sustaining Kuro's unstable existence by providing mana through regular kisses. This bond deepens Illya's sense of familial responsibility and emotional resilience.

Illya's abilities revolve around wielding the Kaleidosticks, granting flight, barrier creation, and physical enhancement by harnessing parallel worlds' mana via the Second Magic. She can "Install" Class Cards to temporarily assume the powers and outfits of Heroic Spirits, like Archer's dual swords Kanshou and Bakuya or Saber's "Princess Knight" form. Her "Include" technique allows partial summoning of a Servant's weapon without full transformation. In dire situations, she combines Ruby and Sapphire into the "Zwei Form," gaining cosmic wings and immense power at significant physical risk. Her innate potential as a modified Holy Grail conduit grants immunity to brainwashing and nearly limitless mana during heightened states ("Kaleid Trance"). She also commands "Engel Note" for autonomous defensive constructs.

Her character arc intensifies when Miyu is abducted by the Ainsworth family into a parallel world. Illya pursues them, vowing to save both Miyu and the dying world, defying antagonist Julian's assertion of impossibility. This resolve marks her evolution into an "All-Loving Heroine" who forgives former enemies like Angelica and prioritizes understanding over conflict. Her journey reveals latent connections to the originally sealed Third Magic (Heaven's Feel), which surfaces during critical confrontations.

Key relationships define her growth:
- Miyu Edelfelt: Transforms from rival to inseparable friend, with Illya's determination to protect her driving later arcs.
- Chloe von Einzbern (Kuro): Evolves from hostility to a sisterly bond, with Illya embracing her role as the "older sister."
- Irisviel: Illya recognizes her mother's voice but distinguishes between Irisviel's true personality and the Dress of Heaven's more elegant manifestation.
- Shirou Emiya: Her affectionate yet non-clingy dynamic contrasts with her Fate/stay night version; she senses protective surveillance from a parallel-world Shirou in Miyu's dimension.

Across all media, Illya progresses from a reluctant magical girl to a hero confronting multiversal threats. Her core traits persist: kindness, occasional childish stubbornness, and an unwavering commitment to protect everyone she cherishes, even at great personal sacrifice.
