Description
Konohamaru Sarutobi, grandson of Konohagakure's Third Hokage Hiruzen Sarutobi, resented being known only as the "Honorable Grandson" during his childhood. Seeking individual recognition and the title of Hokage, he frequently challenged his grandfather. His perspective shifted after an encounter with Naruto Uzumaki, who defeated him without holding back despite his status. Konohamaru idolized Naruto, calling him "boss" or "big brother," and learned techniques like the Sexy Technique and Rasengan from him, adopting Naruto's mannerisms including ending sentences with "kore".

As an Academy student in Part I, Konohamaru was often accompanied by teammates Udon and Moegi. He continued seeking Naruto's guidance, though his pranks caused occasional trouble, such as a collision with Sunagakure ninja during the Chūnin Exams where Sasuke Uchiha intervened. His grandfather's death during the Konoha Crush deeply affected him, leading to initial resistance toward Tsunade becoming the Fifth Hokage. He eventually accepted her after witnessing her strength and commitment to the village.

In Part II, Konohamaru became a genin under Ebisu. He attempted to enter the Chūnin Exams disguised as Naruto to help him gain promotion, but Neji Hyūga uncovered the ruse. His skills progressed significantly; he mastered advanced techniques like the Rasengan and Multiple Shadow Clone Technique. During Pain's Assault on Konoha, he confronted the Naraka Path of Pain to protect Ebisu, using a Rasengan to defeat it—a feat that earned Naruto's acknowledgment.

Konohamaru participated in the Chūnin Exams hosted by Sunagakure featured in the OVA *The Burning Chūnin Exam! Naruto vs. Konohamaru!!*. He and his team faced a monster during the second stage and were rescued by Naruto. In preliminary matches, he fought Naruto directly. Despite initial bickering, Konohamaru employed tactics like smoke bombs and the Big Ball Rasengan—a technique Naruto had not taught him—and combined the Shuriken Shadow Clone Technique with Fire Release: Ash Pile Burning to land a punch. Naruto's subsequent use of Sage Mode, forbidden in the exam, resulted in disqualification, granting Konohamaru victory by default. This win led to his promotion to chūnin. Afterward, he jokingly declared Naruto his subordinate.

Later, Konohamaru rose to jōnin and became an instructor at the Konoha Academy, mentoring the next generation's Team 7: Boruto Uzumaki, Sarada Uchiha, and Mitsuki. On the day Naruto was inaugurated as Seventh Hokage, Konohamaru impersonated him during the ceremony to ensure its completion. His commitment to Konoha and growth from a brash child to a responsible leader reflected Naruto's influence, while he maintained his own identity and legacy as a Sarutobi clan member.
