Movie
Description
Laevatein functions as Signum's Armed Device, originating from the Ancient Belka magic system. It possesses no programmed gender and communicates in German, consistent with other Ancient Belkan Devices. Its name derives from Norse mythology, referencing the invincible flaming sword wielded by Surtr during Ragnarök. It is also titled the "Demon Blade of Flame."

In the primary continuity, Laevatein appears across multiple series including *A's*, *StrikerS*, and *Force*. Following the Book of Darkness Incident, its structure underwent optimization in the *A's* manga epilogue, with further enhancements implemented by Mariel Atenza during the *StrikerS* period. During *Force*, Laevatein sustained severe damage combating Cypha's Divider-944, cracking extensively and shattering near the hilt. It was later restored for Signum's rehabilitation sparring with Thoma Avenir.

Within the movie continuity established in *Reflection*, Laevatein received urgent upgrades to **Laevatein Modified** after Signum's defeat by Kyrie Florian's System Alter. Mariel Atenza integrated an EM Cartridge System, enhancing combat capabilities. This upgrade temporarily froze its form-change mechanism into Schlangeform. The modifications prioritized strengthening Schwertform and Bogenform for immediate battlefield effectiveness over versatility.

Laevatein exhibits multiple forms:
- **Standby Form**: A miniature sword suspended from Signum's neck-chain.
- **Schwertform**: A single-edged sword featuring a convex back bevel (straightened in the movie continuity). The Modified version's blade is reinforced for continuous cartridge-powered energy output, enabling penetration of Formula system defenses and Mobile Shell armor.
- **Schlangeform**: Blade segments linked by an extendable chain, functioning like a whip for mid-range combat or trapping. This form remained inaccessible during *Reflection* due to the urgent upgrade.
- **Bogenform**: A bow formed by combining sheath and blade, charging mana from two cartridges into a single arrow. The Modified version incorporates EM-acceleration for supersonic arrow projectiles. Signum rarely employs this form due to its slow activation leaving her vulnerable.

Additional functions include a sheath acting as a mana compressor for Schwertform and Schlangeform, usable for parrying attacks. It features a bolt-action Belkan Cartridge System with a three-cartridge capacity. A specialized program cartridge, *Wirbelwind*, is utilized in *The Gears of Destiny*.

Laevatein's design and combat applications draw thematic inspiration from the *Super Robot Wars* mechs Angelg and Vysaga, piloted by Lamia Loveless. Schwertform mirrors the Vysaga's sword, Schlangeform references Lamia's mythological serpentine traits, and Bogenform replicates the Angelg's bow-based Phantom Phoenix attack.
