Ezra, also known as Isora Daiba, serves as a military secretary for the authoritarian Gaia Sanction government. He grew up on a Gaia Sanction colony with his younger brother Yama (Logan) and their childhood friend Nami. In adulthood, an accident occurred in a Martian greenhouse they jointly owned. Distraught over the death of their mother's favorite flowers, Yama caused significant damage. This left Ezra permanently paralyzed, confined to a high-tech hoverchair, and Nami critically injured and dependent on life support. Ezra blamed Yama entirely and leveraged his brother's guilt, manipulating him into becoming his pawn and demanding obedience as penance.
Ezra married Nami to secure her necessary medical treatment, a politically motivated union. Nami did not reciprocate his affections, as she loved Yama instead. This unrequited love intensified Ezra's bitterness and resentment towards his brother. He exhibited emotionally abusive behavior towards both, frequently reminding Yama of his perceived failures and using Nami's condition as a means of control.
As a high-ranking Gaia Sanction officer commanding the battleship Oceanus, Ezra was known for his strategic acumen in space combat, employing holographic decoys to mask vulnerabilities and outmaneuver opponents. Privately acknowledging Gaia Sanction's corruption and self-serving motives, he nonetheless served to advance his position. He dispatched Yama to infiltrate Captain Harlock's ship, the Arcadia, as a spy with orders to assassinate Harlock. When Yama defected to the Arcadia crew, Ezra captured him and the ship, revealing Harlock's plan to reset the universe using dark matter.
A confrontation with Nami escalated when she admitted her love for Yama and deliberately provoked Ezra, stating she was the true source of his suffering. Enraged, he deactivated her life support, killing her. He later lied to Yama about the circumstances of her death. During the Gaia Sanction's final assault on the Arcadia, Ezra recognized firing their superweapon, the Jovian Blaster, would destroy Earth. Defying orders, he rammed the Oceanus into the Arcadia to push it out of the weapon's trajectory, saving Earth at the cost of his ship. Facing Yama aboard the crippled Oceanus, Ezra shot him in the face, scarring him similarly to Harlock. As Ezra prepared to deliver a fatal blow, Harlock intervened and mortally wounded him. With his dying breaths, Ezra revealed his actions were motivated by Nami and their mother's love for Earth's flowers, passing away in Yama's arms.
