Isola holds the rank of admiral in the Gaia Sanction, Earth's authoritarian enforcers. He is the older brother of Yama (Logan), sharing a complicated past defined by a severe childhood accident involving them and their friend Nami. This incident left Isola confined to a wheelchair and Nami dependent on life-support systems, shaping Isola's deep resentments, particularly against Yama, whom he partly blamed.
Driven by duty to the Gaia Sanction and personal grievances, Isola manipulates Yama's guilt over the past to force him into infiltrating Captain Harlock's Arcadia crew as a spy and assassin. This demonstrates Isola's ruthless strategy and loyalty to the Sanction.
Learning the truth that Gaia Sanction holograms hide Earth's barren reality shatters Isola's worldview. His mental state deteriorates further during a confrontation with Nami; after an emotional exchange, he impulsively disconnects her life-support, causing her death. This act signals his descent into irrationality and desperation, fueled by personal anguish and ideological collapse.
Isola finds partial redemption when the Gaia Sanction leadership chooses to destroy the Arcadia with the Jovian Blaster superweapon, even at the risk of annihilating Earth. Rebelling, he pilots his flagship, the Oceanus, to physically ram the Arcadia, pushing it out of the weapon's trajectory. This self-sacrifice saves the Arcadia but fatally cripples the Oceanus.
During the ensuing battle on the Arcadia, Isola confronts Yama and Harlock. Yama sustains a facial injury mirroring Harlock's scar before Harlock intervenes, mortally wounding Isola. Dying, Isola reveals he saved Earth because Nami and their mother cherished its potential for life, symbolized by resilient flowers. He dies shortly after, prioritizing Earth's survival over the Gaia Sanction.
