Werbellia, a princess of the netherworld and mother to Annelotte Kreutz and Aldra, married Pope Stephan, the Continent's highest religious authority, despite her demonic nature. Their union was one of genuine mutual love, tragically severed when the evil Swamp Witch banished Stephan to hell for eternity, plunging Werbellia into profound despair.
The Swamp Witch later possessed Werbellia, seeking a powerful vessel to overcome her spirit form's limitations and dominate the Continent. As a demon princess, Werbellia provided the ideal host, transforming her into a primary antagonist whose actions were directed by the witch.
Under the witch's control, Werbellia orchestrated widespread events. She manipulated curses to disrupt the Queen's Blade tournament, inflicting narcolepsy on Leina Vance and blinding the warrior priestess Tomoe. She resurrected undead minions like Airi and Captain Liliana, raised undead armies, and wielded black magic towards her goal of a lifeless world. Her powers encompassed necromancy, curse manipulation, weather control, and demon summoning.
In the Vanquished Queens OVAs, Werbellia captured Leina Vance, subjecting her to extensive torture, physical abuse, and psychological humiliation, including acts of sexual degradation by Werbellia and her servants. A non-canon storyline implied even more severe outcomes, including potential rape, leaving Leina mentally broken.
Werbellia's liberation came when Annelotte and Aldra united to defeat the Swamp Witch. They destroyed the "Controlling Treasure," a spider-like artifact embedded in Werbellia's body housing the witch's soul. Freed from possession, Werbellia tearfully reunited with her daughters. However, prolonged reliance on the witch's power left her unable to survive long in the mortal world. She returned to the demon realm but promised to compete in the next Queen's Blade tournament as a fighter.
Physically, Werbellia possesses horns, a slender tail, dark violet hair, red eyes, pointed ears, pale skin, and stands 170 cm tall. As the Swamp Witch's vessel, she wore elaborate black-and-purple attire featuring a distinctive crotch-piece housing the Controlling Treasure.
