Description
Inbe no Akita occupies a prominent position within Heian-kyō's royal court. His responsibilities encompass organizing ceremonies and assigning formal names, a crucial duty for granting noble status. He exhibits a reassuring and encouraging manner, especially when addressing Sanuki no Miyatsuko's concerns about his daughter. He firmly states his intent to select an appropriate name for her regardless of her adherence to traditional noble standards. Initially, he grants her the temporary name "Nakanaka Airashī Himegimi" (なかなか愛らしい姫君), signifying "beautiful and delightful princess." Later, at an official ceremony, he confers her permanent name as "Nayotake no Kaguya-Hime" (なよたけのかぐや姫), meaning "bright/glowing princess from the mountains," while openly praising her beauty. This declaration draws objections from five attending noblemen, who protest due to her Forest Village origins. His role consistently focuses on facilitating her integration into noble society through the naming process.
