Description
The elderly bamboo cutter known as "Leñador de bambú" lives a modest, childless existence with his wife until uncovering a radiant, miniature girl within a glowing bamboo stalk during his daily labor. Hailing her as a divine blessing, he and his wife adopt the child.

Soon after, he discovers gold and fine cloth hidden in bamboo stalks, interpreting these treasures as celestial affirmations of her origins. The wealth compels him to relocate his family to the capital, purchasing a mansion and a noble title to elevate the girl’s status. Determined to mold her into aristocracy, he enlists tutors and enforces rigid societal norms, clashing with her resistance to noble constraints.

As the girl blossoms into a woman of ethereal beauty, the bamboo cutter orchestrates courtships with nobles, princes, and even the Emperor, convinced marriage will ensure her security. He urges her to accept proposals, driven by paternal worry and a fixation on legacy, insisting she wed before his death.

When celestial envoys descend to reclaim her, he rallies defenses to thwart their mission, revealing his futile desperation to retain his daughter. Overpowered by their otherworldly might, he collapses into anguish as she ascends to the Moon, leaving him and his wife bereft.

His journey traces a transformation from humble laborer to status-obsessed patriarch, unraveling into helpless grief. His motives weave love, duty, and rigid conformity to societal hierarchies, mirroring the clash between mortal ambition and cosmic destiny.
