Description
Prince Ishitsukuri is one of five noble suitors seeking to marry Princess Kaguya. A tall and handsome young man with black hair, he first sports a pencil moustache that he later shaves off.

He first learns of Princess Kaguya's beauty at a royal ceremony in the capital and immediately travels to her residence with the other nobles. Attempting to win her favor, he flatters her by comparing her radiance to the priceless stone begging bowl of the Buddha. Unconvinced, Kaguya challenges each suitor to prove their devotion by retrieving the mythical treasure they named, promising to marry whoever succeeds. Prince Ishitsukuri is thus charged with finding the Buddha's stone begging bowl.

Three years later, he returns to the Miyatsuko residence without the genuine artifact. He weaves a tale of a difficult journey to India, claiming his quest ended in failure upon discovering the bowl was hidden deep within a mountain cave. He then attempts to enchant Kaguya with poetic words, describing a life of harmony with nature and suggesting they abandon the capital for a simple existence in the forest. As he speaks, he quietly removes the screen separating them, hoping to see her. Instead of Kaguya, he finds his first wife, Kita no Kata, who had taken her place. She furiously denounces him for his unfaithfulness and exposes that his story of a forest life is a rehearsed tale he uses to woo other women. Exposed and humiliated, Prince Ishitsukuri flees.
