Tia Durer, nicknamed "Trig", served as a sniper in Mobile Infantry unit A-01. Her motivation stemmed from the destruction of her hometown by an Arachnid plasma bomb, which killed her parents and countless others; she enlisted vowing to kill one Arachnid for every life lost, meticulously counting each kill as retribution. Her custom combat rifle, crafted by her parents in their hometown armory, served as both her primary weapon and a tangible link to her past. During the Fort Casey evacuation, she provided vital sniper support and saved Lieutenant Otis "Bugspray" Hacks from a Warrior Bug. Their relationship deepened aboard the starship Alesia, where shared histories led to a romantic connection. Trig revealed her background and the rifle's significance to Bugspray, entrusting him with her final request: to bury the rifle in their hometown should she die. On the mission to locate the missing starship John A. Warden, Trig undertook a lone, critical operation. She entered the ship's ventilation system unarmored to confront the Arachnid Queen controlling the vessel. Reaching the Queen's chamber, she severed several neural links, temporarily disrupting the Queen's control. This enabled Captain Carmen Ibanez to divert the crashing ship away from Paris. However, Trig was discovered, overwhelmed, and killed by Warrior Bugs shortly after transmitting her success. Major Henry Varro and Bugspray later recovered her body. Honoring her memory, Bugspray used her rifle to defend their retreat, continuing her kill count until his own death. The rifle thus transformed from Trig's instrument of personal vengeance into a symbol of persistence and survival for her comrades. Her character design originated from an early concept for Carmen Ibanez but developed into a distinct narrative centered on vengeance and sacrifice.
