Chow functioned as the technical expert and martial arts master for the Mobile Infantry's A-01 Team. He maintained a solitary nature yet possessed a competitive drive, frequently practicing martial arts during downtime aboard the FAS *Alesia*. His quiet demeanor contrasted sharply with his combat effectiveness. During the rescue mission to Fort Casey, Ratzass mocked Chow's martial arts practice aboard the *Alesia*, suggesting he attend dance class. Provoked, Chow challenged Ratzass to a fight. The match initially favored Chow; utilizing speed and evasion, he dodged attacks and sent Ratzass crashing into crates. However, when Ice Blonde distracted Ratzass by flashing him, Ratzass blocked Chow's finishing kick and landed a punch, resulting in a draw. Witnesses Mech and Chase observed the encounter. Later, Chow joined the mission to locate the missing starship *John A. Warden*. Assigned to Team-02 alongside K-12 troopers and A-01 members, he received orders from Major Henry "Hero" Varro to reactivate the engines after the ship was found. Chow acknowledged the command with a subdued "Yes, sir" and successfully completed the task within the demanding five-minute deadline. This reactivation inadvertently released Warrior Bugs that had infiltrated the vessel. During the ensuing bug attack, Chow demonstrated exceptional combat prowess. He killed multiple Warrior Bugs, including a notable instance where, after losing his rifle, he knocked down an opponent using only hand-to-hand combat. This made him the first trooper depicted defeating a Warrior Bug through unarmed martial arts. Despite this proficiency, he was ultimately stabbed from behind by another Warrior Bug and killed during the evacuation. His helmet prominently featured the Chinese character "拳" (Quán), meaning "fist," symbolizing his martial arts specialization. His surname "Chow" romanizes Chinese surnames like 周 (Zhōu) or 趙 (Zhào), coincidentally meaning "to eat" in English. The character may serve as a narrative nod to Shujumi, another Asian martial artist from Robert A. Heinlein's original *Starship Troopers* novel.
