Lieutenant Tony Daugherty commanded the Roughnecks A-01 Team aboard the Federation starship FAS Alesia. He maintained a tough, drill-sergeant-like demeanor while keeping composure during operations. Daugherty led the A-01 Team in rescuing survivors from the besieged Fort Casey outpost, evacuating K-12 Team personnel. After the evacuation, he retreated with them to the Alesia. The asteroid base was then destroyed by explosive charges set by his demolition specialist, Sergeant Mech. Following the mission, he participated in a victory celebration with troopers in the ship's locker room. Later, he joined Captain Jonah to inform Captain Carmen Ibanez that the Alesia could not pursue her vessel, the John A. Warden, due to its course toward Earth. During the journey, he accessed Major Henry Varro's records in the ship's computer, expressing curiosity about Varro's custodial status. After receiving new orders from General Johnny Rico via transmission from the L-6 Satellite Base, he assembled the troopers and Captain Ibanez for a briefing. General Rico approved a request from K-12 personnel to release Major Varro to lead the mission to locate the missing John A. Warden. Daugherty and Ibanez subsequently approached Varro, who agreed to assume command. For the boarding operation aboard the John A. Warden, Daugherty led Team-01, consisting of troopers Ice Blonde, Trig, Mech, and Shock Jock, tasked with escorting Captain Ibanez to the bridge. Discovering the vessel overrun by a Queen Bug and witnessing the Alesia's destruction by the hijacked ship's weapons, he guarded Captain Ibanez from Bug attacks. He died during the crash-landing of the John A. Warden, likely due to impact trauma. His body was later utilized by the Bugs as a conduit to communicate with Major Varro, demanding Carl Jenkins's life. Most members of the A-01 Team perished; only Ice Blonde and Mech survived.
