Description
Elesa commands the Nimbasa City Gym in Unova, specializing in Electric-type Pokémon while simultaneously captivating audiences as a top fashion model. Her modeling career deeply shapes her public persona and battle strategy, infusing Gym matches with showmanship and crowd interaction.

Tall and slender, Elesa possesses bright almond-shaped blue eyes. Her initial design features short blonde hair, distinctive red, white, and blue headphones with long cords, a yellow sleeveless top layered over a black top revealing sections of her midriff, thick opaque black tights, and bright yellow stiletto heels. A later redesign presents her with black hair styled in diamond-patterned braids, a blue-and-yellow crop top and shorts ensemble, a fluffy yellow coat, and mismatched red-and-blue ballet flats; her headphones also change to cone-shaped spikes with color-coded stripes.

Charismatic yet introspective, Elesa actively engages fans during battles, striking poses and addressing spectators. Despite her public confidence, she privately harbors concerns that her modeling image might make her seem distant. She delights in making puns, particularly electric-themed wordplay, as documented in sources like the in-game "National Gymquirer". Her affection for Electric-type Pokémon extends beyond her own team, evidenced by her immediate fascination with Ash's Pikachu upon their first meeting.

Elesa debuted in the anime during a Nimbasa City fashion show. While modeling, she spotted Ash's Pikachu, interrupting her walk to admire the species for the first time. She subsequently accepted Gym challenges from both Bianca and Ash. Against Bianca, Elesa deployed her Zebstrika, which defeated Bianca's Shelmet, Minccino, and Pignite. This loss activated a prearranged agreement for Bianca to return home, though Elesa later aided in convincing Bianca's father to let his daughter continue her journey.

Ash battled Elesa the next day. She opened with Zebstrika against his Palpitoad. Despite Zebstrika's speed-boosting Flame Charge strategy, Palpitoad defeated it using Supersonic followed by Hydro Pump and Mud Shot. Elesa then sent out Emolga, which incapacitated Palpitoad using Attract (exploiting gender mechanics) and defeated it with Aerial Ace. Emolga then overcame Ash's Snivy, leveraging type advantages. Ash's benched Pikachu intervened, defeating Emolga with Quick Attack after their Electro Ball moves collided. Elesa's final Pokémon, Tynamo, was swiftly defeated by Pikachu's Thunderbolt and Iron Tail. Elesa awarded Ash the Bolt Badge following his victory.

Her known Pokémon team comprises:
- **Zebstrika**: Her primary battler, utilizing Flame Charge for speed augmentation and Wild Charge for heavy strikes.
- **Emolga**: A female Pokémon employing Attract and aerial mobility with Aerial Ace.
- **Tynamo**: Deployed as her final Pokémon against Ash, using high-speed Tackle maneuvers.

Elesa reappears in minor roles, refereeing Ash's battle against Bianca's father and being mentioned by Dawn as having watched one of her fashion shows. She also makes a cameo in the ending credits of the movie *Genesect and the Legend Awakened*.

Primarily raised by her grandmother due to her parents' frequent absences, Elesa received a Blitzle as a childhood gift. This Pokémon evolved into her Zebstrika and shared her formative emotional experiences. Her modeling career launched when a designer scouted her in Castelia City at age 16, shortly after she won the "Ms. Teen Unova" pageant.
