Description
Hans Andrei, a high-ranking executive at Rebuild manufacturing company, oversees Derrida Yvain and Nathan Bilstein as they develop Autonomous Machine DZs. When the duo uncovers a catastrophic flaw in the robots’ programming, he dismisses their urgent recall request, prioritizing profit and corporate stability. To silence dissent, he engineers a murder-suicide plot to eliminate them, leveraging his authority to falsify evidence and evade accountability. He further secures his position by bribing Derrida’s father, Jacques Yvain, to block a critical software patch—only to later dispatch agents to assassinate Jacques, ensuring the flaw remains unaddressed.

After Nathan dies in a confrontation with Andrei’s enforcers, Derrida narrowly escapes into cryostasis. A decade later, Andrei persists in his vendetta, hiring mercenaries such as Donna and Schmidt to hunt the revived Derrida, recover the patch, and erase all traces of Rebuild’s engineered system failures. His actions stem from a calculated agenda to protect the company’s stakeholders, who profit from the DZs’ deliberate malfunctions.

Andrei’s tactics shift from direct corporate coercion to outsourcing violence, yet his grip weakens as Derrida exposes the truth and rallies opposition. Defined by ruthless pragmatism, he manipulates power structures to suppress threats, sacrificing lives to preserve Rebuild’s dominance. His background remains obscured, his identity anchored solely to his role in perpetuating systemic corruption and a relentless, decade-spanning pursuit of those who challenge it.
