Description
Serena Jōnōchi debuts at age 14 in *Pretty Rhythm: Aurora Dream* and reappears at 18 in *Dear My Future*. Born July 6th (Cancer) with blonde hair, blue eyes, and blood type A, she originates from France but resides in Kyoto, Japan. Her occupations encompass idol, student, and comedian, favoring a "sexy" brand style.
She forms the idol duet Serenon with her best friend Kanon Tōdō, performing Prism Shows and manzai comedy where Serena acts as the "boke" (comic fool). Her personality is brash, haughty, and hot-tempered, prone to meltdowns when plans fail. She exhibits arrogance, frequently mocks those she deems inferior, and maintains a fierce rivalry with former Prism Queen Mion Takamine. Despite this, she shows deep loyalty to Kanon and gradually develops respect for characters like the MARs members. By *Dear My Future*, her demeanor matures as she adopts an advisory role towards younger idols like PURETTY.
In *Aurora Dream*, Serenon debuts as rivals to MARs, defeating them early with coordinated outfits. Their antagonism continues during a Kyoto school trip and a televised game show. Serena's father, Steven Jōnōchi, facilitates a basketball match where Serenon loses despite Serena's fervent efforts against Mion. Later, during an Okinawa survival contest, Serena disguises herself in a shark costume to hinder MARs, but her plan fails when Rizumu attacks her inside the costume.
Following their agency's dissolution in *Dear My Future*, Kyoko Asechi recruits Serena and Kanon into Pretty Top. They continue as a manzai duo and perform Prism Shows under the unit name Serenon with K, alongside Kaname Chris. Serena appears at P-nation, offering guidance to PURETTY on handling Prism Star pressures. She also performs a collaborative Manzai Prism Act with Kanon and Kaname. A future vision depicts her and Kanon achieving acclaim as a celebrated manzai pair.
Her family includes parents Steven and Karen Jōnōchi. Notable fashion includes her Summer Queen Cup outfit, Gothic Devil Prism Show costume, and seasonal casual wear in *Dear My Future*. Her surname combines "城" (castle), "之" (this), and "内" (inside), meaning "within the castle." The name Serena derives from Latin/Greek for "clear, tranquil, serene." Trivia notes she shares her surname with Yu-Gi-Oh!'s Katsuya Jonouchi, is one of three arcade game characters adapted into the anime, and originally lacked a Kansai dialect in the arcade version. Design parallels with Mion include blonde hair, blue eyes, scheming tendencies, and black/red performance outfits.
